They already tried that with Webber several years ago and he wasn't going to sign no 2 to 4 mil a year contract, just to hit the NY market jackpot.
I'll never trust this' team again.

The Knicks? Kobe apparently has determined that there wouldn't be enough talent left once Isiah sent half his roster to the opposite coast, and that he has no desire to insert himself into the internal turmoil that has gripped the Garden.

Bryant's agent, Rob Pelinka, did not return a phone call yesterday to give his take on things. But remember this: Pelinka also represents former Knick Channing Frye, who has been railing about the behind-the-scenes turmoil at the Garden since he was traded to Portland for Randolph on draft night. If Frye has been that open publicly, imagine what he's told Pelinka.

One thing Mrbury and Isiah have in common, "Fosterers Of Turmoil" have been their job titles at every stop on their resumes.

Once upon a time things were looking up in NY and I think players did want to come here. Eddy Chubby, Vince, Webber, to name a few. Isiah is a charmer and player's coach and guys wanted to be his friend. But the Knicks have become the butt of all NBA jokes and until things change dramatically (and I'm not just talking about a 42 win season) quality people will be very leary to join the food fight this place has become.

i would not put kobe and cweb in the same kind of deal. rob pelinka, kobe, nike and the knicks may be able to get real creative if kobe wants new york

It can't be denied that Isiah & Dolan have tarnished the name of the Knicks franchise of late, but the idea that Kobe or any other superstar doesn't want to come here now because of what Isiah has done is absurd.

Its all about the Money. Always has been always will be. Where were all the superstars lined-up to come here before Isiah took over? Who was the much needed superstar that took less money to come here and help Ewing win a ring? All these superstar players talk about wanting to come to the garden (the mecca) when they are free agents but at the end of the day, they sign elsewhere. Vince? Webber? Last I checked, they've never been sized up for blue & Orange uniforms.

Even when Isiah is removed, if we don't show them the money, they aint coming here.

Bonn - the last time a player claimed New York as a destination he was criticized for only wanting to drive his value up

Let me be clear of what a true superstar is:

Kareem Abdul Jabaar
Magic Johnson
Dr. J
Michael Jordan
Larry Bird
Isiah Thomas
Allan Iverson
Kobe Bryant
Tim Duncan
Shaq O'Neal
LeBron James
Dwayne Wade
and a couple dozen others.

Men who have proven that they can lead a team to championships.

Guys like Allan Houston, Eddy Curry, Zach Randolph, suckbury, punk ass nate or any of these other guys we have on this team couldn't lead a horse to water. Face it, we have no star!

Papabear Says

hey 4949 get a hold of yourself. It takes 5 men to play this game. Pretty soon no player would want to play with Kobe. Chicago is Jordans town. Why call the Knicks all those dirty names.

A lot of people on this board who think Isiah snake job can be negated by his drafting success are really underestimating the deep damage he did to Knicks organization.
MSG degrades to bbal doghouse from being the Mecca of basketball.
Knicks are not a desired destination for big time players, coaches, and GM's any more. And this is the sad reality.
Yes Dolan can buy some other guy’s time (like he did with LB). But nobody can do a great job just for being paid without passion, dedication, and good work environment.
Too much to repair and we are not yet in the mode of removing the poison...

This is BS you are spewing Isiah has made the Knicks a place to be. Players want to come here. He has done well with the draft and building up the Knicks with talent. Kobe doesn't want to come here that is his wish. He think the Knicks will be deviod of talent if were to come to the Knicks well if he goes to the Bulls they will put basically a talentless team around him. Isiah got caught with a bad situation with a sex harrasment case when that happened even if he was found innocent in some peoples eyes he would have been guilty. People need to understand that the trial system is very flawed and even you can get caught in a situation where you have to prove your innocence when you did nothing wrong. Anyone can bring charges on someone anytime. People need to stop judging Isiah and the SH case and move on.

Some people (including Dolan) still think that money can buy everything in NBA.
No money can by greatness - because anybody on the market will pay the max price for it.
So it is no point for great player to look at money any more. Great player will look for GOOD place to be, for other great people, and for the place where he can win it all.
Why anybody of them will wont to waste their time (which is limited) with Dolan, Isiah, and Marbs in MSG crazy house? Give me one good reason?
Unless some player wants to f...k somebody in the car and get away with it, call whoever you want B..ch, do nothing and get paid millions. And now tell me - do you want this kind of players on your team?

But the elite guys will get max deals wherever they go, so with that in hand it's no longer about the money, because the money is a given.

No.
I sad Kobe don't want Knicks.
I would take Kobe over Eddy, Zack, Marbs, Craf combined with addition of other scrubs like Jeffries and
Jerome James any day.
But I would not take him with the expense of Balk, Lee, and, yes, your man Chan.
It is always better to have ONE head case with talent like Kobe than bunch of average primadonnas.

So, in other words, a superstar overrides any issue of chracter?

Don't kid yourself arkrud - what Knicks do you think Buss wants in exchange for his prized superstar?

I'm glad he's not coming for two reasons -

1) His age. If we have to give up our best players to get him, we won't be able to put enough talent together to be contenders before his skills start to decline.
2) His inability to get along with other players. Kobe doesn't want to share the ball. He doesn't support his teammates and puts his own goals above the teams.

This team needs to stick to the tactic of getting younger until we've established a nucleus of top players. Then we can think of adding the one piece to put us over the top.

Thanks Kobe for ruling out the Knicks. We'll be just fine without you.

I find it funny that a guy who has been involved in rape allegations himself will complain about the turmoil in NY after he is creating a shytstorm in LA..

Who cares what channing frye says.. the guy needs to shut up, get tough and play ball...

Good, now we can forget kobe and move on..

Which is double whammy as to why you wanted him here in the first place. TKF he represents everything that's wrong about the league, his physical talents and abilities don't excuse those. He's crap character, and a terrible leader. Who cares about his 81pts and sick dunks let him rot in L.A. or go destroy another franchise. And as I said during the summer we don't have good enough Trash A.K.A. Scrubs to give up to get him. There's about 30 different players in this league I'd rather have than BLOWBE CRYANT!

[Edited by - TrueBlue on 10-14-2007 12:34 PM]

I think you have it a little backwards there. Dolan & Isiah are destroying this' franchise. And it's a joke that you wouldn't want his 81 pts sick dunks. You'd be smoocing all over it if he was here. Granted, if I we could get LeBron or Carmelo, only then would I consider passing on Kobe. We'd not only get superstar tallent to build around, but one that doesn't carry baggage. Besides, Lebrons loves the Yankees. It would be perfect!

No I wouldn't, there isn't a player I despise more than KOME. He has many of the qualities Marbury has the only difference, he's more talented and played with the most dominant center of our generation. He had the best situation any second banana trying to become the 1rst banana one could have but it wasn't good enough for him. Just like his beautiful wife wasn't good enough for him. At least with Marbury he's never really been considered a winner, always was a bum but KOME chose to become a Marbury. Once Shaq left we saw the real KOME. We have what you call SELL OUT fans. We're so desperate now a days we want anything, a rapist who sells out his teammates, coaches, owners, and HOFers who cares "let's get him." Just imagine if our team won 3 championships with a chance to win a few more yet one player decides he wants to set his own franchise legacy by alienating his agenda from the team to establish a new era. And by doing so forces the hand of the ownership to choose his direction(although they didn't have to). Then proceeds to produce one terrible losing season 1rst yr, a so-so season the following yr, and a mediocre yr after that, then wants out. He's awful just awful.
