btw, I kinda knew this already. I was gonna make a thread last night but thought it wasn't anything important. Houston's NBA bio was updated on the new format. Thought that was wierd because it was never like that.

Allan Houston is on an espionage mission. Dolan loves the guy. Houston is the one basketball person Dolan loves more than Isiah. If Houston tells Dolan that he doesn't like what's going on with the team -- Isiah is done. This is a Dolan move, not an Isiah move. Houston is being sent in to give Dolan his assessment of the team and he's infiltrating from within. If it really is how I think it is -- then this is a great move.
[/conspiracy theory]

very plausible. good insight. this might be why isiah is talking about a signed contract before houston even ties his shoes.

The only positive I see in this is that Houston can teach Collins and Balkman how to improve their jumpers/free throws

Wasn't I SAY UGH the one trying to talk Houston into hanging them up and jump starting rumors that he was going to do so because he wanted to Amnesty his contract?

If your saying what he adds on offense he will substract on defense, then why is jamal crawford even in the nba.

He is a tremedous subraction for 41 games a year and never really brings anything to the table on defense, Houston plays 15 minutes a game max i don't see why everyone is over the moon.

Eddy Curry might be the worst two way player in basketball and is the only player in the league to average more to's than blks, stls, assists. Do you know how hard that is to do, we are highly overating the talent on this team

36 is still 36

TrueBlue - not certain about all that, but I'm with OasisBU on making sharp lateral cuts with fragile knees

Whatever Houston adds to offense he'll subtract from the defense. He was never defensively gifted, but all that lateral torque grinding of the knee that D requires will be the first thing a hurt player trying to extend his career will forgo.

So he'll be a mini-Eddy Curry is what you're saying?

Let's not forget he's a former Slam Dunk Contest participant:

That's definitely plausible. Although I doubt Houston is in on it.

There is no doubt that this is happening above Isiah's head. I think as long as Houston feels good enough to play, he makes the team. That means Isiah either loses one of his guys (Jones), admits to a huge mistake (James) or buys out another veteran with a big contract (Rose). Knowing that Houston is close to Dolan, Isiah better be on his best behavior with Houston around. Houston may not be there specifically to spy but he'll be honest with Dolan if he's asked how he thinks things are with the team and Isiah. If Houston starts comparing how things are with this team, compared to the 90's teams he was on, that can't be good for Isiah.

Isiah can't be happy about this and he doesn't sound like he is.

What about Him playing SF. He's 6-6 and he will be too slow to keep up with SG in the League now. I think he can give some quality minutes at the SF for us. Until Ron Ron get here. :)

I agree that Houston might not necessarily be in on it. And I think you are right that whether he is or isn't -- it might end up with the same result -- that is, Houston being Dolan's eyes and ears inside the locker room. I wonder if we will see any discussion of this in the papers. I haven't really seen anyone bring it up but me. Though so far -- both you and Blue agree it's a plausible theory.

I have a feeling that this move is going to have a major impact on the team. All of sudden, there is a guy on the roster who has the juiciest of all juice cards to flex. I don't think Marbs or Isiah have the clout with Dolan that Allan does. I'm very interested in how this plays out considering the fact that there are rumors that Allan is a candidate to succeed Isiah. Ultimately, I hope his presence forces the Knicks to adopt the type of professionalism that could transform team for the better.

I have another theory

Houston is on the team so Marbury will not be able to do anymore interviews.

definitely sounds plausible to me... hopefully BigC's theory's also true so we won't have to hear Marbury's idiotic quotes anymore this season.

if it were up to me the only ones allowed to speak on this team would be Malik, Q Rich, D Lee & Allan... everyone else should just shut their traps & do their jobs this year & let everything else take care of itself.

I thought the league required players to do post-game interviews.
