Does anyone else find it ironic that he has to announce that he's not going to talk much?!

You beat me to it and in particular does it right after the first PS game. You gotta love our characters.

I understand your point but I disagree slightly. For me, the preseason is the only time where players should talk. I have no problem with players making predictions during preseason as long as they understand that they have to back it up when the season starts.

bippity - if the players refused to talk to the media then they would be villified for being aloof, non-cooperative and insensitive to the fan base.

Last I checked, none of the Knicks players have said anything so outrageous that it is worth picking every nit over. C'mon...

Misterearl: this is NY and things haven't changed in over 1 million years. You are going to go batty thinking that it will. When you come to NY you have to realize that dealing with the harshness of the media is part of life. The fans are tough too. And if you can't handle some criticism when the team is losing than you probably don't belong in NY. And as for the players being villified. I'm pretty sure you take the criticism more personally than most of the players do.

"What we have here is a failure to communicate.."

bippity - the point is not about criticism. The thread title refers to Randophs declaration.
The discussion was centered around how much players should "talk".

Let them talk.

Some fans don't want to hear the players talk about how great they are going to be. They'd rather just see it happen. If they are of the opinion that they'd rather see the players play than hear them talk about it then they should "talk"

Let them talk.

bippity - other than Marbury's proclamation as the world's best point guard 3 years ago, where has any NY player use the word "great" in a sentence when referring to themselves?

At the beginning of the post Zach was quoted as saying:

"Watch us closely. We're not going to talk a lot, we are just going to come out and play solid basketball, and we are going to shock a lot of people."

Now I have no problem with him saying this and could care less. Some people don't want to hear it. Now if Zach has the right to say these things, don't posters on the board have the right to say they are sick of hearing the players talk. It's only an opinion. Why try to stifle it?

Zach is a prime-time player. He is exactly what this team needs. SOmeone who knows how to put the ball in the hole with the game on the line and the pressure is on. Last year, only Crawford seemed willing to put the game on his shoulders. Now we have someone who shoots at a higher percentage willing to take on that role.

Wah

"Stop stifling Bip, Earl."

gee Code, I didn't realize I was stifling bippity. I will be more careful in my choice of words in the future so he doesn't feel put upon, persecuted or unfairly squeezed into a corner.

It would appear the quality of toughness that bippity described, only applies to the players, "When you come to NY you have to realize that dealing with the harshness of the media is part of life. The fans are tough too."

The fans can dish it out but they can't take it.

There will be no stifling on my watch. Baiting and name-calling is allowed, however.
