As luck would have it we were on opposite teams the next game. I guarded him and he guarded me. Now I'm not one to keep track but I vaguely remember scoring all 11 points in the rout.

But did you run the offense?

Of course I ran the offense. There was one play where one of my teammates was open under the basket and was waving his hands and yelling "I'm open, I'm open". I told him to "shut up and let me run the offense". I then believe I jacked up a 25 footer.

You sure showed him. I bet that guy was a Larry lover too.

The bas-tard was saying stuff like "share the ball", "trust your teammates" and "play ball the right way". Of course he was a Larry lover.

I share the ball all the time. After I drain another long range three I have no problem allowing the other team to take the ball out of the basket.

I trust my teammates. I trust them to give me the goddam-n ball.

I play the game the right way. By sticking jumpshots in my defenders grill.

You know, I went to a JVG clinic once. And he said some stuff that I really don't remember. But, I bet you that guy was there, taking notes.

I can just imagine him trying to set picks. And you throwing the ball at his face, telling him to get out of the way. I guess some people never learn.

Hey I was at that clinic and remember all the things JVG talked about. But most of that team play stuff isn't designed for teams that have players with my type of talent. The greatest lesson I ever learned was in High School. My coach called a timeout and drew up a play that he wanted the team to run. He spent 30 seconds reviewing the play and then grabbed me as we walk onto the floor. He said Bip "All that stuff I said in the huddle, forget it. if you pass the ball I'm going to kill you". I will never forget that fine lesson and have carried it with me to a variety of rec leagues, pick up games and pretty much any type of competition in which everyone thinks I'm still the guy I was 12 years ago.

I'm not so crass that I would throw the ball in a guys face if he set a screen for me. I just yell clear out until he gets the message.

Can I get a "down with Larry"

Rec leagues are where legends are born. And where most legends retire too. So many memories. Which brings me to this one time.

I remember once when a "Larry lover" tried to set a screen for me. I waited for all his teammeates to yell "pick right!, pick right!" Then, I called him a sissy and drop kicked his azz into the basket. Thats what he gets for trying to steal my joy.

Especially for those who consider themselves *haters*. Or anyone who doesn't consider themself a hater, but can't stand the knick managment or main players.

Do you stay quiet and let them rip the knicks?

Do you leave the area?

Do you agree with them and rip the knicks together?

Or does the urge to defend the knicks overwhelm you? Since it is a non knick fan talking reckless, And you start ripping there teams?

I know what you're saying Bip and I have empathy for you. I wouldn't have the energy to care about that anymore either, if I've been worrying what other people think about my team, since the Jurrasic period either.
