VDesai - read my lips, Lee is not a three. He can cameo against some matchups but let's not get crazy.

The point is not whether somebody "should" play. Minutes are earned and not based on favoritism. For example , Mardy Collins floats my boat but if he continues going 0-4 from the field the only thing he'll be seeing is plenty of pine.

With that said, Quentin Richardson brings deep range, experience and the high socks... but Wilson Chandler can fill more positive columns of the stat column than any of them. All he needs is to learn the tendencies of the refs and vice versa.

Bulledat

It would be ideal if he can win this spot. Of all the players on the roster he seems to be the most suited for the 3. I personally like Q bruising shooting guards.

bippity - now, you're talking my language

Quentin provides more of a challenge for opposing shooting guards. In that role he would, hopefully, take less pounding on his back - sans guarding post-up types. He can "back" up Jamal or start. I don't care.

Best five play.

Now I am? I've been saying this for months

Let's revisit.

"I want to see Isiah dictate to other teams how the game will go instead of the other way around. I would love to see us pound teams into submission. If I were Isiah with this current line-up I would go big. I would have Steph at the point, Q at the 2, Lee/Balkman at the 3, Zach at the four and Curry at the 5. I think this line-up would force other teams to adjust to us, having to match up with us on the boards. Of course what would be ideal is if Chandler can win the 3 so we can have more balance in the line-up by adding a jumper to the line-up without losing the physical advantage. Let us pray"

That was from the day after SL ended. It's obvious what this team needs, but we need our players to win the spots and then our GM to balance the roster. But what I will do is call Chandler the Mayor so that you don't miss when I make posts like this.

I know I forgot someone. I totally slept Balkman!

The funny thing about SummerLeague was watching the versatility and unselfishness of the Balkman/Chandler/Nichols line. The shiftline turned out to be greater than the sum of its individual parts because of the way they played together.

I have a sneaky suspicion that Mark Aguirre was watching the same things and took notes.

Forget the compatibility of Zach and Eddy. They ain't getting married. They just need to do what they do and share the ball once in a while.

Competition for the 3 spot is THE story of pre season

Chandler is going to be great. He will show threw his play that he should have been a top 7 pick

Is he even going to play at all?
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Solace - I don't know if he will or not, but I know he can. What will keep him from playing is that he brings a lot of the same things that Balkman does. However, Chandler has a better outside shot.

Cosucks - let's not go crazy. The Mayor is not destined for greatness. But he DOES have a an element of versatlity the Knicks are desperate for at the position.

Richardson on Carmelo and Pierce gives me the heebie-jeebies
Jeffries as a ball handler scares me more than Shandon Anderson
Balkman was hitting the side of the backboard in Vegas

Wilson Chandler has a lot to learn.

Okay, go crazy now

I don't agree with the idea that Chandler is Balkman with a jump shot. Chandler may be good as a rebouner and defensive player for a rookie, but he's not in Balkman's league in those two areas - just as Balkman is not in Chandler's league offensively. Chandler has a well rounded game. Balkman is a very good defensive player and great rebounder who has no touch.

Vote or Die

Ira - with Balkman and Chandler the three spot has some possibilities. Don't be so quick to make the comparisons until you have seen Chandler in person. There are some valuable nuances to his game that may escape the box score.

Silverfuel - what's even more ironic is that it seems that The Mayor has a tatoo on his left bicep arm that appears to say "Sheriff".

Vote early and often. Punch #21

totally agree with you earl. Chandler is perhaps our first natural SF in a long time.Doesn't play with the frenetic energy that Balkman plays with, but Chandler is clearly more well-rounded and is more ideal to start (if he's ready) with the starting unit we have.

He's got my vote

bigbeast - your vote counts

As his campaign manager, I must clarify our position on the critical issue of the race which we feel is critical to the survival and productivity of the franchise. The Mayor's candidacy, although it has been misrepresented in the media as a campaign for another government hand out or pork barrell initiative ... is a camapign for truth.

(see the video of July small forward Debates held in Las Vegas broadcast on CNN)

This campaign is the culmination of a grass-roots movement. We intend to cohere the expert opinion of those brilliant basketball thinkers who actually study basketball and have the courage to make an informed future-forward investment of opinion - or who simply are looking for a viable candidate who can articulate a variety of skills on the basketball court.

This campaign categorically denies the false reports of demanding Wilson Chandler as the starting skill forward as falsely interpreted by Fox News.

"It means a lot -- you know, my first year playing -- first time at the Garden," Chandler said on Wednesday. "It's the hometown team; you know what I'm saying? So it's going to be crazy. My first time being on the court, first time getting my name called out so it'll be really exciting."

"They're a good team, one of the best teams overseas, so it should be a good game for us. Again, just their style of play, it's important to get used to playing a team like that," said Chandler.

Why it's important?
Are we planning to quite from NBA and join Euroleague?
Hmmm... interesting idea.

But seriously folks, I just enjoyed the way Chandler seemed comfortable on the floor.
I look at it this way, a blind man can select an established player as an object of support.

I chose to lead the campaign for a player from his first baby steps.

The Mayor just felt like fun
