I think this team is horrible defensively at every position and I watched Eddy last year guard absolutely no one and Zach do the same thing. I hope I am wrong but I know Lee is focusing on defense and he said just being older and more mature he feels will make him a better defender. I really cant think of anyone on this team that is a good defender. I think Mardy and Renaldo will be someday but this team just doesnt put an effort on the defensive end.

Its all about matchups. Some sfs will be no problem while quick guys like Gerald Wallace would be a huge problem for Lee. If we are going agaisnt the right matchup Lee will give us more than he will give up. I'm glad Lee is working on his game so much. I think he should play 30 plus minutes every night

King1 - don't be such a lemming. Nobody has seen Eddy and Zach together on defense.
Nobody has seen them on defense at all

I thought that was when they take their breaks?

I saw Zach defend himself during the press conference.

Did he get arrested for it?

I dont beef on Zach's D. Yes it sucks, but he's a monster on the glass, and thats part of D IMO. Thats defending something. Its bad when you let a guy you guard shoot 60%. Its worse when you let him crash the boards also. Zach will at least challenge guys on D on SOME posessions. He will also control the glass on both ends. They way he scores thats enough for me.
Maybe he punchs Steph too.. that would be super.

I hope it's a knockout that magically busts his vocal cords.

Anyway...

David Lee developing a jumper does more than just allow us to play him at the 3. With that offensive threat on the floor we can put Balkman or Mardy in (or even Jeffries) to play D on the opposing teams biggest back-court threat and still cause match-up problems on the offensive end.

Last season we often had too few offensive threats on the floor so Curry was getting slammed. Lee adding another look gives this team an entirely new dimension.

Balkman in there would allay some of my concerns about Lee's defense although I concur with Fishmike that limiting the other team's offensive bounds is a key aspect of that as well. David Lee does that, no surprise this team was at its best with him on the floor.

Honestly with this line-up(Curry and Zach) I would look to physically dominate teams. I would use our one key strength to our advantage. I would go Lee at the SF, Q at the 2 and Marbs at the 1. That line-up could simply outpower other line-ups. Would it have weaknesses too? Of course, just like every other line-up we throw on the floor. For my money it at least allows me to possibly dictate how the game is played.

halfcourt game all the way through.

curry and crawford on one side. zach and steph on the other. limit possessions and dump it into the post everytime down the court.

the theme of this season should be "sacrifice".

That is the difference between Zach and Eddy.

Passing and Free Throw shooting are also noticeable big differences in their game although these are offensive categories.

Curry's offense IMO has become much more irrelevant with Zach here. Nothing he does on offense will mean anything to me. I'm only concerned with what he can provide defensively. It would be very beneficial for Zach to step his defensive too. We should run our offense through Zach. It'll be interesting to see how the touches break down with this power offense. The power offense is going to lead to a slower tempo where on offense the team uses the majority of the shot clock. There aren't going to be too many opportunities for backcourt and wing players to get enough touches to get into any kind of rhythm, therefore defense becomes even more important. Realistically Curry and Zach are going to need at a minimum 12fga/gm a piece, probably closer to 15fga/gm. This team is going to have to look to score in transition whenever they can and try and create as many turnovers as possible. In reality this team needs serviceable offensive players who play lock down defense around EDOLPH.

I agree. Wear teams down. Limit the touches. Cut down our turnovers etc.

david started at sf during his rookie year when we had a 6-game winning streak. i'd like to see him get a chance to play it this year.
