Yeah, I don't think Dolan is going to hire a proven winner who has a proven plan. That would mean relinquishing control. If he fires Isiah he's just going to bring in another GM that will have to find "creative" ways to build a team. I'm not happy with Isiah's plan but I almost feel that Isiah "getting it" is our best chance to build here. He's learning that the lazy vet route doesn't work. I'm not sure what the next leg of his plan will be, but I don't see things changing much under a new presidency

FYI: This is in no way an endorsement of Isiah or a condemnation. I think he is doing what he was told to do just like Layden. I pray for the day we have a proven winner at GM and coach who both know how to work together. On that day you will see a true future instead of a cloudy one.

I understand that Dolan is a complete moron but do you really think someone could do WORSE than Isiah?

All Knicks fans can hope is that Dolan lucks out and hires someone competent.

It's a tough decision my friend:

1.) Fire Isiah and hope Dolan lucks out and hires someone competent
2.) Keep Isiah and hope that he figures out that proven winners are important and begins to distance himself from the lazy vets.

Basketball's version of Sophie's Choice.

That's an easy choice.

I am so sad the way that the Knicks are being managed, starting from Dolan, Thomas... New York fans deserve better.

Why do New York fans deserve better?

Ok, so we don't want Isiah fired, because we feel Dolan has no hiring skills.

OK... see, basing things in reality, the owner isn't going to relinquish the team. But at least getting rid of one scumbag is a win. How can people not see that?

Then again, there's no way Isiah gets fired by Dolan. It's not going to happen. Isiah will get his "one more year" from both Dolan and the fans... probably another 7 or 8 times.

i agree with what briggs has to say. at this point, the knicks would fall even further behind if they fired isiah. at least if they keep him around they might win 42 games and make the playoffs and have some exciting games.

until dolan is removed or his say in the organization is lifted nothing will change. its like getting rid of cheney but keeping bush in power. unless you have the full coup, whats the point?

I don't know Isiah's future. If he's here I will go back to hoping that the guy finds a way to make things work. If he's fired than hopefully Dolan will hire someone of mixed heritage so that we can go back to criticizing the GM without the name calling.

I’m actually interested in seeing what would happen when/if Isiah gets fired. It isn’t so much about the “competence” of the guy Dolan hires (my guess is Grunwald would just take over, no?) but what his directive from ownership will be. Any competent man can be made to look a fool in this organization, look at Larry Brown.

Maybe Dolan will have a change of heart motivated by a desire to leave the Marbury years behind him and decide that a total rebuild is the way to go. What if that happened? Say what you want about the harassing environment Isiah created, he would be leaving this team with a lot more young and marketable talent than he found here.

We’d have a young core to build around, and could endeavor to move Crawford, Richardson, Jeffries, and one of either Curry or Randolph while waiting for the contracts of Stephon Marbury and Malik Rose to run their course. My guess is that would be a course most of us could get behind…put our names in for the OJ Mayo/Derrick Rose sweepstakes right now.

Would Dolan take that course? My guess is no. Likely he would direct whomever he brought in to sell the marketable assets (read David Lee, Renaldo Balkman, Mardy Collins…) to make a splashy trade for a big name to distract the fans so that MSG can keep rolling with the same MO it has employed for the last 15 years.

Heck, we might do that with or without Isiah.

DOLAN WON'T FIRE ASSIAH JUST LIKE HE DIDN'T FIRE LENNY WILKINS OR LARRY BROWN. SUPPOSEDLY, THEY RESIGNED AND THAT'S WHAT THEY WILL TELL ASSIAH TO DO, RESIGNED!!

I don't see anything happening to Isiah by Dolan at this point. If there is someway that Stern can suspend Isiah from the NBA for the length of his contract I hope that he does it. I also hope that Stern takes action against Dolan and somehow gives control of the team to someone else for a period of time. I am not sure if he can do this because it was a civil suit but I think it is the only way that this situation can be fixed. Dolan will not fire Isiah and he will remain involved in the team just enough to insure that incompetence, mediocrity continue to be the buzz words associated with the Knicks.

There is no accountability in our organization. I will not be surprised if Isiah has no punishment

If dolan can be convinced he would come out looking good and make a smart decision if he hired a credible staff to run his affairs. This guy is over his head.

He reminds me of W.

They are probably related.
