The Answer Man Accepts Responsibility for the Knicks 2007-08 Season

"When you catch yourself complaining, stop and ask yourself if you want to continue to deny responsibility for your reality or to allow a bit more responsibility back onto your plate. Maybe you’re ready to assume more responsibility, and maybe you aren’t, but do your best to make that decision consciously."

basketballjones - so whachoo sayin' is that there are people who consistently only know to rag on the Knicks because they are unable to disconnect undesirable behavior from their self-image?

Deep stuff dude.

"Consider how the foods you eat condition your body. You aren’t really going to become the next meal you eat, but that meal is going to influence your physiology, and if you keep eating the same meals over and over, they’ll have a major impact on your body over time. Your body will crave and expect those same foods. However, your body remains separate and distinct from the foods you eat, and you’re still free to change what you eat, which will gradually recondition your physiology in accordance with the new inputs."

"This is why negative thinking is so addictive. If you keep holding negative thoughts, you condition your mind to expect and even crave those continued inputs. Your neurons will even learn to predict the reoccurrence of negative stimuli. You’ll practically become a negativity magnet."

Only a moron woud post incessently about a team he doesn't like.

Sorry TMS, but one fully qualifies as a negative nancy when speculating a day before the first pratice what the excuse will be when the team doesnt meet expectations. Its not an insult, thats reality bub.

We all have our anxiety about how this season will pan out. I believe thats how this thread started. But no fan puts themselves in the position in pre-season to be proven wrong if their team actually wins. Its a step away from rooting for your team to lose, and what true fan does that?

People get all uptight when others imply they aren't a true fan. Sorry if you are one of those people.

& who the hell are you to decide whether or not i like a team or not? i'm frustrated by the empty promises & unfulfilled expectations year after year, & i'm not afraid to admit that... if you're optimistic & proud of the team Isiah's put together, that's your choice bub.... i hate the fact that we have a moron like Starbury leading this team & the fact that we have our team president & GM involved in all this sexual harassment & inpropriety crap is embarassing to me as a Knicks fan... if you're the type of person who can be proud of the current situation, knock yourself the F out... sorry bub, but i don't take any pride in seeing the team i love go to ****.

TMS - That was no insult, unless the negative nancy description fits you like a cheap suit... on Media Day no less. We're talkin' bout Media Day, not the pre-season or the opening game... Media Day! How silly is that? We're talkin' bout Media Day.

Media Day

C'mon TMS, don't you find it just the least bit ironic that the most thin-skinned people are the ones who generally hurl the most invective?

Oh yeah... If you need a translation for the word "invective" here's a link provided as a public service:

http://dictionary.reference.com

Hold up, I almost forgot...

Go Knicks!

classic earl... throw insults at people & then feign innocence when someone takes offense to it & throw the accusing finger the other way... nice touch providing the dictionary definition of "invective" & adding in your last little sarcastic dig at my intelligence there btw... very classy & obviously not done w/any malice or ill intent i'm sure.

TMS - you should eat more carvel ice cream and foot long hot dogs

It ain't about you or me, so whatever crusade you feel compelled to lead against my scribblings is moot.

I ain't got no beef with you.

I expect that this team will prove to be the good BB team we all think it should be. You can't look at the roster and tell me that you don't see the talent. You can see the room for future growth too. This is a really big year for this team.

Looks like most everyone is ready to go. I wouldn't get to crazy about Zach not looking in shape. I want to see how he actually plays as opposed to people who aren't used to seeing him on a regular basis trying to make that assessment. From all reports he's a gym rat and works hard. So we'll see. I'm more concerned with how Zach and Curry will work together, cuz ultimately that's gonna determine everything for the teams chances from here on.

I'm not worried about Steph. It seems to me that the guy was on an emotional high and it came across as crazy to us. I don't believe he's crazy at all. I expect that he'll calm down and get back to playing like he was last year.

I'm happy to see that Jamal bulked up. Someone mentioned that he would lose quickness and that's not necessarily true. When you add strength and not fat you should be able to carry it and move with it just as well. If anything it might actually make him a bit quicker and more explosive.

Personally I'm most looking forward to see if JJ2 can manage to NOT suck in any single dimension of his game this year.

Sorry, I realize my previous post implies that JJ2 has any "game."
My bad.

Rem, (& this is not meant to start another argument) i'm just curious how you can comment on someone else's negativity when you have something like this in your sig:
Eddy Curry is so fat when he goes outside wearing blue jeans and a red sweater people yell out "Hey, Hey, Hey!"

obviously as sarcastic a comment as the one i made initially in this thread, no?

Do as RemBee says, not as he does.

Making fat jokes at Curry's expense used to be de rigueur on this board, I was just trying to fit in.

Why would you want to try to "fit in", in a place that you hate and constantly complain about?

Why not just leave and never come back?

I was 1 of Curry's biggest defenders all last year on these forums, just to counter some of your innaccurate preconceived notions about me as a Knicks fan... being completely discouraged about a franchise that has Jim Dolan, Isiah Thomas & Stephon Marbury as its figureheads isn't exactly being unreasonably negative.

& getting back to Bip's original question, what do you think is the biggest thing to look forward to this year?

Why would you post 83 times a day about a team that you hate and constantly complain about?

I suppose that was intended for me.

I love the Knicks franchise and I have since I was a kid.

I hate the current Knicks owner, GM, Team President, Head Coach and Point Guard.

I think a lot of the current players are overpaid, underachieving losers.

I want to be a fan of this team again and the only way is for there to be drastic changes with who is running things.

What's your excuse for posting on a site that you have nothing good to say about? Why not just post on one of the many other Knicks boards on the internet? One where you can drink as much kool-aid as you like.
