They matter if and only if -
1) You're a hater and we lose or
2) You're a lover and we win.

I lean more towards them not mattering. They are preparation for the actual season. The games don't count for anything, there's no award.

But as a fan you like a basic level of effort and execution whenever you see your team play. Summer league "doesn't matter" either, but many of us still watch the games and care about what happens.

It really isn't so much a matter of winning these games as seeing that the team that has been assembled is improving & learning.

Marv - there is another game tonight. Then another... and another...

of course the Knicks sucked, but it's only ONE pre-season game with a bunch of new (drafted, recovering and acquired) parts who have been together for all of 2 weeks.

2-1

Marv - c'mon, there are 7 pre-season games and last time I checked none of them count in the standings

Just for the record, here are my dirty dozen:

Zach
Curry
Lee
Marbury
Nichols
Balkman
Crawford
Collins
Morris
Jones
Jeffries
and last, but not least, The Mayor

I thought when asked who was the leader of the team isiah responed
"I'm the Leader" Leader of what and who?

That approach to the game last night showed no leadership whatsoever.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

playa2 - what that game showed is that Paul Pierce is a dominant three and the Celtics enjoy playing at home a bit more after being booed or most of last season.

Unless you have been behind the scenes, you know nothing, nada, zippo, a null set, zero about the Knicks "approach" to the game.

c'mon people.

I could see the Knicks "approach" to last nights game. No defense. At some point this has to change
I just hope that people will like me

you know what that approach delivers on the floor.

if the knicks had looked great last night it would have been totally appropriate to ascribe it to isisah's effectiveness in assembling, preparing and coaching them.

last night’s abomination was an accurate reflection of his effectiveness in assembling, preparing and coaching this team.

He said his mind was on basketball during the trail.

Right now our team sucks in and on the court!

Man that was corny!

Gimme a break with the "bunch of new parts" crap. We got one new starter. The Celts are a completely different team. They should be the ones with excuses, not us.

It's really not about the W-L record in preseason, but on why style of play is being displayed and what direction the team is going in.

Remember when Isiah said his mind was constantly on the team during the harrassment trial lol I tend to differ, IMHO he wasn't even thinking about the knicks during the trial, compared to the lack of preparation on display last night.

For crying out loud , it looked like James Dolan himself was running the knicks practices in Charleston and not peanut butter sandwich eating HERB WILLIAMS!

I dont mind the botch passes or the missed shots, it's preseason and timing and rhtym's bound to be off. But where was the effort and hustle? What, we're supposed to include effort bonus into their contracts now?? The yoots were OK, but cept for Marbury (now thats a shocker) there wasnt any life in our starter and vets. This was just what i saw, sorry if it offends anyone.

This is one of those eternal questions that philosophers have struggled with for centuries ... Do preseason games matter?

And the debate goes on....

That philly has less (TALENT) than the knicks and has been in the rebuilding mode ever since they traded AI
