Thomas said that Bird was “a very, very good basketball player,” and that he agreed with comments made by his teammate Dennis Rodman, saying, “If Bird was black, he’d be just another guy.”

This is the quote everyone mentions to bash isiah but when you read it, its not really a bad quote. He credits Bird firstly with being very very good. Then he agrees with Rodman's comment. ((Which, many of us might silently nod our head in assent with.)) After all, there are dozens of great black ballplayers and not too many great white ones so if he were black, he would be just another guy.

I don't have a problem with these quotes which remember were taken in the context of competition. Not under the bright light of history with old mnen sitting behind their desks reminiscing about the game and making their stories Politically Correct.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

kam77 - in 20 years some old men will sit behind their desks, recount the Staten Island voting districts, and wonder how on earth it took three years for people to recognize Wilson Chandler as the ideal candidate for Mayor

Thomas was “a very, very good basketball player,” but “If Thomas was white, he’d be just another ignorant executive who f..ed everything up.

You mean Danny Ainge before this offseason when he built a team that many feel can contend over the next few years.

When was the last time Isiah built a team that people thought could win their conference?

I'll wait for you to clear your throat but I'm sure it'll be awhile before you can answer the question. And we all know what you're gagging on.
