Q. can marbury, crawford + jeffries provide that defense?

A. perhaps, but I'm also placing a bet on the idea that a shiftline consisting of Mardy (6'6) Nichols (6'7) and potentially Chandler (6'8) will get the job done defensively in 2008-09.

three big time defensive minded sf's look like they could be had for the right price:

ak47
marion
artest

i think the knicks have pieces to get any of them (with marion being the toughest). i think a move for any one of those 3 players would make a huge impact, possibly 2nd round or more.

We need someone to check Paul Pierce

dj - it would seem that Quentin Richardson or Jeffries could be the odd man out. I love Q's rugged style but I don't like his size at the three. Unless Jeffries has sold his soul to the devil, any significant change to his game would be a jolt. But 6'11 is still 6'11 when it comes to getting a hand in someone's face.

Choose one veteran with Wilson Chandler as the understudy.

Panos - I am only referencing an exerpt from the Araton piece to illustrate the attention that Marbury has drawn, for worse or better...

... in relation to the scrutiny of his game.

It is difficult to separate the two, would you agree?

I realize that it was a quote. I was criticizing him, not you.

I say if we could get Marion, we do it. I never wanted Artest. We have enuf headcases.
I like AK, but he's injury prone. Marion is a good soldier, and plays big and tough.
He's a great fit at the three for us. Then we just have to swap out Crawford for a higher
percentage shooter and we're onto something.

But in a five-man, flowing, motion offense like Utah's the defenders spend more time preoccupied with their own man's movement and fighting through the myriad screens. So you'll see fewer defenders abandoning Jared Jeffries to double Curry before the ball has even been passed.

yes! this is why balkman and lee can be effective next to curry despite being lousy shooters. last season they would knife through the lane when curry had the ball, and they had the hands to reel in a quick pass and finish smoothly. that was one of the problems with jeffries - he wasn't nearly as good at catching and finishing.

Panos - I didn't take it personally from the beginning.

Agree that swapping out Crawford is the next in a progression of steps. That is where nichols, although still a baby, (albeit a 6'7 baby) makes an intriguing player to follow in his development.

With his defensive mindset and stated hunger to prove his detractors wrong, Demetris playing the two in 2009 is a tasty potential option.

If only Balkman had a jumper...

Mista,

Good post, this is what we should be focused on!

We don't make the sleeze, we just are drawn to the stench!

Some of you guys need to be more diverse in your topics of discussion.

This trial should clean up the SHENANIGANS in a lot of professional offices in NY.
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

How do you like that, Earl, now even topics broached by the New York Times are too risqué for these moderators.

No idea why you prefer it here.

Sorry Marv, I thought for a moment that someone here might wish to take a break from bashing the Knicks on a Knick fan site and talk about something interesting. You know a conversation in which they might learn something.

This, apparently, is against the rules and merits having your posts erased. Its ok here to suggest Curry and Marbury be executed, but talk about Race issues in America at a time when they are very much being talked about due to current events? That’s off limits, man.

The guys running this place are probably woefully unaware of anything that might be considered “Current” or an “Event” in this world if it doesn’t involve salacious rumors born in Madison Square Garden or whatever the latest Zeke-bashing opportunity is.

Marv, I'd probably be banned for repeating it (it was just THAT controversial) and lord knows I wouldn't know how to live if that happened.

Some can’t handle an opinion that doesn’t paint the Decker girl as a pale innocent fawn prayed upon by a pack of black wolves.

Both posts were responses to the Harvey Araton article in The NYTimes

I thought it was an interesting conversation and it's only fair that we should know why it was removed.

jaydh - there was no generalization

just an analysis of facts presented

the same way people insert opinions on how "dumb" Eddy Curry is
