"People like him because they blindly follow whatever theyre fed. They look the other way, if it involves something they love. Look at the crusades, or the 2004 elections."
toodark - I'm not certain that The Crusades or the 2004 election have a clear connection to whether the 2007-08 Knicks will make the NBA Playoffs. Unlike The Crusades, the Knicks under Isiah Thomas are not worth going into a brutal war over. The 2004 election had something to do with The Electoral College, a system of counting votes and some claims of trickeration. (slapping forehead) Okay, now I get it. Isiah is related to Don King! Only In America (Go Knicks!) [Edited by - misterearl on 09-24-2007 6:16 PM] once a knick always a knick

I dont like Isiah. But I stick up for almost anyone that I think is put down unfairly. That doesnt mean he doesnt deserve some of the things said about him. I just look at the over the hill capped out team he took over and the team now and I see progress being set up for the future. This team now is basically a bunch of young guys with only 1 insanely large contract in Marbury.

Posted by COSSUCKS: Anybody could have done what he's done. Matter of fact any GM could have done what he did except with a smaller current payroll. He gets no credit for a less than status quo performance. You're saying this as if he's accomplished a great feat. I guess you're giving him a free pass for all the buyout money Huh? Posted by Silverfuel: Well said. I doubt anyone will cancel MSG/ and sell their Knick tickets the day Isiah is let go and follow him to his next Franchise (if he is so lucky to get another job). "Man, who knows with this team." Aguirre.

Posted by TrueBlue:Posted by COSSUCKS: You obviously don't appreciate the genius involved in not only buying out high priced players that you've inherited, but also trading for multiple high priced players that you end up buying out shortly thereafter. Or maybe you don't appreciate the skill it takes to trade away 4 unprotected first round picks, at least 2 of which were high lottery picks, for a team that's desperate for high ceiling young talent. And how about some props for being able to trade for players that nobody else in the NBA would touch with a ten foot pole because they're labeled as malcontents, overpaid underachievers and cancers. Who else would, I mean, could have done all of that? If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

TrueBlue - "anyone" better be ready to take over the moment Dolan feels its time for a change.
I respect your offering of random speculation but let's get real - the road is littered with a truckload of NBA General Managers who entered with a plan - and exited with a pink slip. I would also offer that not "anyone" at GM (and that includes amateur GMs who second guess every move but have never set foot in an NBA practice, executive meeting...or locker room, ever) would have recognized the potential of the newest Knicks... Renaldo Balkman was booed David Lee was not on anyone's radar Randolph Morris was delivered in a historic in-season signing Wilson Chandler is already better than Trevor Ariza, who no one heard of and make no mistake about it, no matter what your opinion of his past is - Zach Randolph can play once a knick always a knick

The one thing that is clear with isiah's reign is that nyc is soft.
This city used to be feared. The fans used to dictate what the media talked about. The barber shops and street corners. The water coolers and happy hour after work. Now a lot of people are media whores. Spoiled brats that must win every game and win the championship every year. Nobody has common sense or their own opinion of anything. Nobody just loves their team cuz its their team. What happened to ny? Isiah happened to ny? Save that stupid argument. Scott layden did the worst job in NBA history running the team. That's a pure fact. Isiah made some dumb ass moves. His worst move was trying to get Larry brown. Other than that there has been good progress. Decent progress. No playoffs but dudes here and in real life say even just making the 8th seed is not worth it. Its championship or burn a cross in front of their house. Fuck that man. Nyc is soft. I'm moving to Iraq. I'm still gonna be a knick fan though believe that. Subscribe to my Podcast https://youtube.com/c/DiehardknicksPodcast

Posted by TrueBlue: He's got the size, athletic ability, can defend, block shots, pass, lead a break, bound and he can shoot. Why shouldn't we believe that he's already better than Ariza? He's at least ahead of the pace that Ariza was at. There are no guarantees, but as a prospect I like him very much. In terms of the job isiah has done, it started off rough, but over the last 3 offseasons, he's been VERY GOOD! Frye, Lee, Q, Nate, Curry, Jared, Balk, Mardy, Morris, Chan and DNic. That's some good freakin work! He then replaces Frye and Francis for Zach a 20/10 player! I think he's done a good job. If you can get past the win/loss record and just look at what he's done to the roster, you can see that this team is in far better shape to move forward and the wins should start to come this year. i thought that LB wasted a chance to build a base. Last year Isiah was able to build that base and we likely would've won more games if not for the injuries, so how has he done a bad job, when taking everything into the equation? You can't tell me that this isn't a pretty talented team. You can have some doubts, but you'd have to admit that there's a greater chance that this team will show improvement, than there is that it won't. The team he's built should have about a 5-7 year run in it. I expect that we'll be one of the contendors over that time period. IF that's the case then Isiah can't have done that bad of a job. |
