The Knicks suck, plain and simple we are a fringe playoff team. The Lakers make the playoffs in the western conference, we finished 10th last year in the east.

Be realistic Bynum is 19 years old and although he hasn't reached his peak he defends, blks shots and passes. Lamar is an awesome player and if you made him the focal point of the offense would put up putting numbers than any knick across the board.

Could you trade kobe for Deng and Gordon? You could if you wanted too, and both those guys are better than any knick at their respective positions, so we don't have the future they do.

Your freind some really good points, but they have little bearing on the future prospects of either team. So, um...............you win this one.

Me and my roommate got into a heated ( yea it got really intense at one point) arguement about who has a better future The Knicks (me of course) and Lakers ( him aka Laker fan aka Kobe fan). My arguement is that...

- We have better prospects (Lee, Balkman, Mardy, Nate, Morris, Nichols and Chandler) oldest being 23
- WE have a allstar caliber frontline (Lee, Curry, and Randolph) w/ the oldest member being 25
- We have better players at 3 out of 5 positions ( Kobe SG and Odom SF)
- Kobe rings are all from Shaq's MASS contiributions to that team. ask Dwayne Wade if you do not believe me.
- Unless the pull a Celtics blockuster, we will win a champion ship before the Lakers
- If not for the suspensions and injuries ( Lee out 24 games avg 30 mpg, Crawford out 23 games avg 37 mpg, Richardson 33 games avg 33 mpg) we would have been in the playoffs
- You have the best player in the game and he can only get you 42 wins and sneak into the playoffs on the last week of the regular season

His arguement

- Even though his team isnt great they go to they playoffs every year
- We haven't been to the playoffs in 3 yrs
- Last time we one a ring I was negative 14 yrs old
- We have a squad but we still suck
- We let loose a coach that just won a championship
- All Knicks fans do is make excuses

1. Never move in with a Lakers, Celtics or bulls fan.
2. I'm afraid he has you on one thing. The Lakers have a lot of successful history. I mean sisteen championships (and just recent wins) next to our two championships and not since the early 70's is a wide gap to build on. Some of todays most successful franchises usually have a better time at it of rebuilding because of the aura. Pride plays a huge part in name recongnition and that attracts big names through the decades. Canadians, Yankees, Cardinals, Celtics, Lakers just to name the top franchises. In football, no ones running away with it just yet. So at this point it's the Cowboys, Steelers, 49rs and New England. But on the other hand, if you are from a little place called New York, then you are in the worlds mecca and you always have that chance. We just so happen to be stuck with ****ty management at this point. And if we somehow took Kobe, then for now, it would be a whole new ballgame, something truely to build on.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Ha Ha that sucks that you gets guy into an argument but I would have to go with the Knicks on this one. I really dont see that much game changing youngins on the Lakers, Bynum and Critten is the only ones I have to say will be good for their future. I like what we have with Curry, Lee, Balkman, Morris, Collins, Nichols and Chandler. Your friends argument is true but weak.

The Lakers aren't marred in rediculous contract tie ups like we are. They don't have the highest payroll in the NBA. We do and nothing to show for it. Call me negative, but it's true and none of you can deny it.
I'll never trust this' team again.

We will win a Championship before the Lakers??

How do ya figure? They won 8 since we last won one. I'd put the money on the Lakes.

Some of you can try to knock the talent we have, but once you get past Kobe we have a much better team for the future.

How do you figure? We have oldies going out soon, some journey men who are still' trying to prove themselve and the only rooks who been proven (so far) are Lee and Balks. Lee's in question, because of the major injury and he needs an effective outside jump. I'd be willing to say that Collins showed some good flashes last year, but it's not enough. The rest of these rooks haven't even played a game yet. And lets not forget, Zach is one problem away from being jailed, suckbury is one big mouth away of stiring negative media and Nate is one more season away from not maturing as with Curry.

I'm a Knicks fan, but I'm not going to down right say we're better than anyone else, based on pure emotional hope. That would be an insult to my intelligence.
I'll never trust this' team again.

unfortunately, for all its talent this team has not shown the drive and desire to put in a season of effort and fight through obstacles like injuries.

I always thought talent involved staying away' from injuries (especially during the most keys times) and to have drive and desire. If you don't have those, then how is it that our team is talented? With the multitude of key injuries at the end of last season, I'd say we don't really have talent.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I’d say they’re even. bleak on both sides. kobe's a little bitch, lamar disappears when there’s pressure and bynum is a huge question mark. they have nothing else.

we have flawed vets and fun but unproven young guys.

You'd trade out team with theirs in a heartbeat. Don't lie Marv!

Bingo! And thats the difference. With us, we have some trading pieces, but a guy like Kobe would just end up with the wrong side of players on this team, because our good pieces are the more manageble contracts. The only way out for us is buyout and after being sued by Brown and probably by Anucha and all the other payoffs they had to endure (Larry, Houston and others), I highly doubt that's going to happen. Boy' the money that has been wasted by this management is incredible! Even 'I' can manage this team better!

The only thing about the Lakers is Kobe. Odom is a nice complementary player. Bynum MIGHT become a very good player one day. I think the Knicks have a brighter future. Some of you can try to knock the talent we have, but once you get past Kobe we have a much better team for the future. It's not even close.
Get past Kobe? Are you serious? They can probably get Deng and Gordon for Kobe; maybe Pau. Who knows. Or they can keep him and he'll probably play more years in the league than Fat Albert.

Maybe the subject should be 'Brighter Future...the Knicks or the bulls?!?!? Your probably right about Kobe. The more I see of Isiahville, the more unlikely we're gong after him.
I'll never trust this' team again.

This is a good synopsis cookdecokehop. I agree that Bynum is waaaay overrated on this board. Just ask Kobe what he thinks of Bynum these days... If Bynum was here he would have been labeled a bust already, even though he is still a kid in the NBA. It's a lot easier to wait for players to develop elsewhere, New Yorkers never have that kind of patience.

I would also add that with Kobe making trade demands and generally undermining ownership, this darkens the future of the Lakers because it will be hard to get equitable trade value for him.

Andrew Bynum said Curry should be an All star and later called Curry a Star.

Bynum is a good kid but at this point Curry is better.
