Benching rookies just because they're rookies is an awful policy implemented only by poorly run teams trying to justify huge veteran contracts.

Then you probably hated Van Gundy as a coach.

Which veterans did he play in front of superior rookies just to justify the veterans' contracts?

Calvin Booth?

"Well (Calvin Booth) is better than Curry in all phases of the game other than low post scoring during single coverage."

Ira - please tell me that I'm reading this correctly.

Philly has a nice young group of players. Tho they likely wouldn't have caught us if we had remained healthy. This year I expect that they'll have serious problems trying to stop our power attack. We should be a few notches better than we were last year with the addition of Zach. We'll see if the Sixers were for real or if they just had a nice little spurt late last year. What some of us here are quick to forget is that we were actually increasing in wins each month as the season went along and that only stopped when the injuries mounted.

You still peddling that BS?

What stopped was the steady flow of sub .500 opponents. As soon as they actually had to play good teams with more frequency, the wins stopped coming. I believe it was something ridiculous like 29 teams in a 35 game stretch in the middle of the season were under .500 at the time the Knicks played them.

You act like the Sixers were able to play a consistent group of players all year and had a nice little spurt at the end of the year. They traded away their franchise player and struggled to put together a competent team for months afterwards. To their credit, even though shorthanded, they played hard and were able to string some wins together. As opposed to the Knicks who just cried about injuries and tanked the rest of their season.

The Sixers have heart to go along with their nice group of young players. That's why they're sleepers. The Knicks are a collection of overpaid underachievers. Zach is just another one of them. The Sixers should win 33 games but could surprise and be around .500. The Knicks should be around .500 but would surprise nobody if they won 33.

Isles they have the excuses ready for this season, it's just a matter of when they'll surface.

What Nix should be saying is that the team didn't make the most of their situation when they were healthy and that's why the season ended the way it did.

Bonn - Van Gundy never played rookies. It was against his religion. It probably still is. A lot of coaches feel that way. It's not a matter of high priced veterans. It's a matter of rookie mistakes.

But, as described above, I was restricting my comments to scenarios where rookies are superior to the veterans, which would include making fewer mistakes than veterans

So, conversely, if Malik Rose makes fewer mistakes than David Lee that means he is a superior player?

Malik Rose does NOT make fewer mistakes than David Lee.
Malik is a turn-over machine and a bad shot taker.

the knicks are not a sleeper pick- not because of all the coverage the knicks get, but because of the kinds of moves they make.

Adding Zach Randolph & his $16MM Max salary isn't a sleeper move.

Right now- the team is over paid, under-achievers. And if they ever achieve, they'll be living up to billing.

Sleeper is when a team exceeds the expectations of what they are on paper.

On paper, we have a championship squad.

Yeah I'm not sure I understand the logic of some of the Knicks fans. They think people look at this roster and see 30 win talent. No, this team SHOULD BE WINNING GAMES.
I just hope that people will like me

No. I didn't say "solely" include. "Include" allows for the object of discussion (player superiority) to be comprised of multiple components.
