So who was Allen iverson traded for?

I would take kobe in a heartbeat but kobe would have to play like he played in the tourney of Americas. He would have to play defense and play within the team. The clutch belongs to him though. He would have to seriously channel some old school MJ to make it work. I don't want to see an Allan Houston situation in ny again where kobe just goes one on one all game. Win or lose that would suck.

no that's o.k. i don't want the best player on the planet. i have what i like to call a "nucleous" of "young" players. i like the players we got too, and i would love see them grow together, but what if they don't? that's the chance you take. they could grow, they could decide to leave, or they could SUCK! that's the chance you take. don't you guys think the chance would be more positive if we had a "nucleus" of curry, kobe, steph? to that you add a shotblocking pf, and my little sister and they'd make it deep into the playoffs.

why not something like...

zach
craw
lee
nichols
1st rounder

for

kobe?

Ben Wallace 10pts 11.3rbs 2.4blks 1.7 (defensive player of the year)
If guys like Carmelo and AI count as franchise players, then Big Ben in his prime has to count as one. He's just less flashy.

I doubt that, he is not really a franchise changing player. He is great on defense but that is his only attribute, he is like your average #2 star.

He's a good passer and he's great at offensive rebounds too. If a guy was one of the best offensive players in the history of the game and a little below average on defense (maybe Carmelo with TEN more PPG), he'd be universally labeled a franchise player. But when it's the reverse, he's not called one. It's just because fans value flashy offense more than tough defense.

Ben Wallace may be a little more than a little below average on the O, especially for the amount of burn he gets.

How many PPG does the average C get and how many does he get? Then factor in how many offensive rebounds Ben gets too.

You have to consider Wallace up there with the others when he had his best years in Detroit. He was a difference maker.

Kobe is a supper-ego
Kobe and IT - can they coexist?
Kobe and stephan - can they play together?
Kobe and Zack - can they share the ball?
Kobe and Eddy - Edddy will cry in the corner...

Kobe needs guys like Lee, balk, mardy around him. He MUST be the Boss.
You are putting wrong players in the trade. But hell, who wants Eddy, Zack, and Steph?
Not Lakers. They never were idiots.

Look at their GM, when you have a chance to get Jason Kidd you dont pass on it (no pun intended). When you have chances to get guys like Camby, Artest, Baron Davis, Boozer, you dont pass on it. When you trade Shaq for crap then your an idiot, when you trade for Kwanme Brown and put Butler in that trade then your an idiot, when you sign Vladimir Radmanovic then your an idiot. The GM (Mitch Kupchak) is a Idiot. Please dont say that they were "never idiots".

There's a difference between making some bad decisions like the Lakers and being insane to the point of wanting our veteran starters.

If Ben Wallace was a franchise player, so is Rashard Lewis or so was a younger Andre Miller.

The term "franchise player" gets thrown around too much. The term should be reserved for guys who can get it done by their lonesome. You could argue KG isn't even a franchise player as the Wolves were terrible has past few seasons there.

Honestly........we don't even need to win a championship.

Boring ass teams win championships. Slow ass Shaq and Duncan.

I'd love to see a young fresh resilient bunch make the Finals and put up a heart-felt fight.

'99 Knicks. THAT'S all I ask for. Chip would be great, but I'd rather get off my seat and get pumped up watching a team with heart and defense.

All I ask.

There was once a coach who said "You play to win the game"...

You said you want to just watch a team with heart and defense. Little do you know you're actually talking about the DNA of a championship team.

No one gets it done by his lonesome. There isn't anyone in the league who can do that. Even Michael Jordan couldn't have done that.

That's not true at all.

Tons of teams with heart haven't won a chip.

I just wanna see some NLR back, and a atleast 1 All Star on the damn team.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

No one can get it done on their own. And you can't serious compare Big Ben to those other guys. Ben is a future hall-of-famer with several Defensive Player of the Year Awards and NBA rings. Those guys have barely made all-star teams. (Actually I don't think Miller has.)

Some bad decisions, have you not read my last post lol. That is more than some bad decision, the Lakers have asemble a team that would be a team picking #1-3 in the draft if it wasn't for Kobe. The things I post (and there is more) is a little more than some bad decisions.

The players on our team listed are *known* to be problematic or even failures in this league. The players the Lakers either passed on or acquired were unknown (or at least less known) at the time of the deals.
