conine is a pinch hitter.

In todays game maybe, but he was brought here to PLATOON with delgado against tough lefties as well.

if you have to sit delgado and play conine, then the mets are in some serious trouble.

play delgado everyday - he had wrist surgery so he has to work himself back. he's having a tough year but the slightest THREAT of him hitting a homer >>>> .240 conine.

That may be true, but again, when acquired, thats what the Mets said his role would be(platoon vs tough lefties at 1b, righty off bench).

jazz74 - you are a chump.

Where were your crybaby tantrums against the Mets when they were fighting through injuries to key players, including one starting pitcher who has been out all season, and steadily maintaining one of the best records in the national league?

you don't see hunger in their eyes?

no sense of accontability?

gee

fire Omar Minaya!

don't call me a chump, earl. i did not disrespect you so you do not have to disrespect me. i said i am venting. simple as that. tell me something, earl, do this mets team have the same enthusiasm as last year? our bullpen was flawed last year did minaya do anything to help it over the winter that is paying in dividends now? did he watch atlanta and philly get signioficantly better while we lay at the wayside doing nothing? i am tired of all of these teams losing when we are supposed to have the best sports city in the WORLD. i don't want to hear about injuries. you sound like our lovable knicks coach. name me a team who did not have to deal with injuries that are in the playoff hunt. hell, phillies didn't have utley for a frigging month and we still could not run away with the division. i am tired of the excuses. buck up and start winning like a championship quality team. and stop kissing miniya's ass. he hasn't help us make it to the world series so to me he is in the same level as steven phillips.

Well, the Phillies have the Mets number. So do the Braves. But... fortunately for us, everyone else seems to do pretty well against both of those teams.

The Phillies have a stacked lineup full of fly ball hitters. That's great for their tiny park, but not necessarily elsewhere.

The Answer Man Ain't Called Nobody A Chump

Q. jazz74 - do this mets team have the same enthusiasm as last year?

A. of course they do. I would submit that playing through more challenging losses of key players is an indication they have MORE "enthusiasm". But who cares about attempting such nebulous things as "enthusiasm" from the long-ange view of a tee vee set or a box seat. Let's ask someone who is in the dugout...

Q. jazz74 - our bullpen was flawed last year did minaya do anything to help it over the winter that is paying in dividends now?

A. no that damn Miinaya just sat still and did nothing. He should be fired. sheesh.

Q. jazz74 - did he watch atlanta and philly get signioficantly better while we lay at the wayside doing nothing?

A. The Braves pitching past Smoltz and Hudson is an absoulte joke. Lay at the wayside? Minaya has done major work to rebuild the Mets. The system is loaded and building great relationships. (then again you can always pine for the days of George Weiss who passed on Reggie Jackson out of Arizona State, for the forgettable Steve Chilcott, because he had a white girlfriend)

dude, did you really say Steve Phillips? c'mon, venting is one thing. but being silly for the sake of being silly is quite another

jazz74 - the point being, you are not owed a thing, whether you live in New York, Baltimore or Los Angeles. It's a game.

If a championship is your only measure of excellence, cool. Then you are right back bitching and moaning in November.

Miserable.

... but pause and think for a moment jazz - how can injuries be excuses if the Mets are still in first place?

Injuries were only included to measure the difference between the runaway division title of '06 compared with a good ol' fashioned pennant race of '07. Wasamatta, you can't take the pressure?

Los Mets

"minaya is the most overrated gm"

CDB - "we just need to get a damn heart. From what I see watching these guys is a bunch of girls, they dont want it and Willie needs to change that attitude."

New York "fans" are the most overrated. Using the Archie Bunker-ish term "a bunch of girls" to be an insult is so two decades ago.

hold up, it's now 10-8.

Just had to interrupt my offseason to say:

Yo -- if we're gonna have a Mets talk thread -- can we at least call it "The Mets Talk Thread". Why the hell is our thread titled after Rollins and the Phillies??? I mean, damn -- that's on some low self esteem ish...

cannot catch a break the mets won 133 games in a row when leading by 2 runs going into the 8 and now lose 2 of them in a row. we couldve won every game EASILY and we lost ALL of them

this is like taking a huge right hand to the head--we are staggered YET still slightly ahead on points but it\'s only the ninth round

Mets bullpen is god aweful. Just last year they were good but now I know that if the Mets have a 2 run lead going into the 7th and Heilman or anyone else for that matter comes in they are going to give up runs for sure. Wagner isn't that good especially if Randolf insists on using him for 2 innings. Don't get me started on Mota this guuy needs some juice badly. Willie has to step up on his management too. Last night he had Green hitting and he was 2 for 20 something vs Myers he should have pinch hit Gotay. Anyways they still have the lead and the Phillies were really playing hard vs the Mets look for a let down from them vs their next opponents. Look for the mets to bounce back and take games more seriously then they did vs Philly.
