who you prefer, scott brooks, eisley, chris childs, mark jackson, ward. At some point you have to relize he is who he is a combo guard.

It's like saying why couldn't Ewing be like shaq, kareem, or bill russel.

I'd prefer Ward. I didn't realize it then, but I realize it now. The guy was a floor general, a gritty defender and a good teammate.

Ward >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Marbury

Yeah, but if you ask Marbury, Nash is still a loser like him cause he ain't got no ring.

Nothing wrong with Marbs game in my view. He is a solid scorer that can play the point and the two. He has become less selfish in the past year but still does not understand the PG position. You can tell that a few people here have never played the PG position or given much thought to what it entails. It's not just about being less selfish. It's understanding the flow of the game and knowing what your teammates need before they realize they need it. Marbs is not that guy. And if you are waiting for him to be that guy than you are making the same mistake that management and coaches have been making for the first 10 years of his career. Look at him as a combo guard that is getting up in age who is a solid guy to run your point in the short run. But no matter what denial some of us are in, we know that on the day we start competing for a title(not competing for the playoffs and pretending we are good) we will have a different PG. And that PG will instinctively understand exactly what Nash is talking about because it is impossible to teach. Some get it, some don't.

Mardy is the only guy on this team that is close to that ability. Is he talented enough to man the PG position for the next 10 years? The jury is still out. But if we are waiting for Marbs to get it at 31, 32, 33 years old than we are blowing it. It's not who he is.

I have such a hard time understanding why people are so set on trying to teach the hardest thing in the world to learn, instead of going out and finding a guy that already does it. Jason Kidd and Steve Nash have not always been great players. They have not always been great leaders. They have had to learn how to become great ones. But they always showed the progress. No matter where they go they are able to elevate the talent of the players around them. If they are on a bad team it becomes mediocre. A mediocre team becomes good. Worst case scenario the team meets expectations. Why? Because when it all falls apart they take control and elevate the play.

For all his talent, when all falls apart in NY Steph becomes part of the problem. When the team abandons the offense Steph is taking all the shots. When the team is bickering with the coach, Steph is the most vocal. The team annually has a looooooong losing streak. The team has underperformed instead of matching or exceeding expectations since he's been here. Again, don't hate the guy for this. But as an organization it's time to realize who he is, and move on. Find a true leader. If it's not Zach and Curry(who haven't come close to showing this ability yet) we need to hand this team to someone who can. We all know this is true it's just that some of us continue in denial.
I just hope that people will like me
