bippity - I just hope they work out in secret so the Knicks won't be penalized for organizing off-season workouts which are strictly prohibited under the NBA guidelines

I'm witchoo, forget the hype. Besides, I saw all the chemistry I needed to see in Las Vegas with David Lee and Malik Rose sitting together in the stands.

hit the open man

I don't care how they work out. In secret. In their bedrooms. But they should be getting to know each other and know each other's games. If they are serious about creating a winner together they need to do this. Otherwise it will be a long adjustment period before they do learn to play together. The longer they wait, the longer we will have to wait to make it work. So yes I'm 100% with you in hoping that they are working out in private together.

It would also be nice for them to get together with a few of their teammates or play in a summer league together to get some experience. Just nice. I'm not devastated if none of this happens, but for once it would be nice to see guys deadly serious about winning a title.

Knicks should ask for and receive a waiver from the NBA- never have so many been paid so much and delivered so little.

Eddy Curry working on his jumper is the most important thing he can do to make the front-court pairing work. I’m not sure what the two of them getting together is going to accomplish before the team starts practicing its offensive sets. I guess they can play a little one-on-one, swap fat jokes, hit the clubs together and do whatever other things you can do to build chemistry off the court. But none of that is as important as Eddy’s jumper being a threat.

Meanwhile, you still hear about how we couldn’t trust reports that Eddy was getting into shape last summer when he came into camp in shape and played 81 games at 35 minutes per. Can someone name another big in the league that did that?

Should Nate work on post up moves and blocking shots?
Should Craf work on defending power forwards?
Should Zack concentrate on bringing ball from the point?
Should Morris spend all day shooting 3-pointers?
Or may be Eddy should spend all day learning to defend the paint, rebound, bock short, stay with his man, help out, box out, and pass out of the double?
I think Isiah knows the answer...

Isiah asked him to work on that and thats what he is doing. Listening to his coach. Some of you guys bash him if he is not in the gym and then bash him when he is in the gym. Just because he is working on his jumper doesnt mean he isnt also working on other aspects of his game. Last time I looked a guy cant work on his rebounding or defense when he has the ball in his own hands.

LOL so what should Marbury, Mardy, Nate, Jones, Crawford, and Q work on to make that all work? Should Fred Jones work on his drop step 5ft on the baseline, should Nate Robinson work on his shot blocking, should Crawford work on defending 4's and 5's in the paint?

Actually it's great he is adding another dimension to his game. He gets no credit till he shows up in camp. Much like last year I was hearing media reports he was working hard and then showed up fat and out of shape....

You can work on your defense and rebounding in the offseason by losing 10-15 pounds getting into great shape and punishing the other centers in the league. Frankly if he can stroke a jumper and is still overweight it means nothing to me. Make the full commitment to your coach who gave you the franchise (smart move).

Right now the knicks have David Lee, he is on the select team and there is a reason he is hard worker does anything thats needed to win. When Curry does that we are in the playoffs advancing....

"I’m not sure what the two of them getting together is going to accomplish before the team starts practicing its offensive sets."

As a coach I ask my players to play as much as they can together during the offseason to learn each other's habits, personalities, moves, tendencies. Where they like the ball, what parts of the court they feel most comfortable on. The list could go on and on forever. But now I'm going to rethink this and tell them not to bother to get together and simply wait until the season starts because the rest is just a waste of time. Are you kidding?

but can't you agree that the team coming together and working out is a GOOD THING?

No I can't. For ten years, we've been promised this and promised that and all we've been is lied to. You *******s depress me. If you can't take critizism (and it's not even directed at you's) then I'll just go away for two more weeks. BYE!

Where are all these promises? Who made all these promises the last 10 years? Can you be any more specific?
Please post links to all the promises that were made to you the last 10 years and which ones were not kept.

No, because unless their playing together somehow simulates the structure of the offense in which they will be playing it means almost squat. If Randolph doesn't know what part of the court Curry is most comfortable on, he hasn't been following much basketball. Your players already know the sets, presumably, so makes sense that they spend time in the off-season practicing them.

Obviously, Curry and Randolph spending time together on the court is more helpful than not. Maybe Randolph can meet up with Curry in Chicago for some pick-up games. But if the front-court pairing doesn't work next season it won't be because he didn't, it'll be because their games fundamentally don't mesh.

Which is why Curry shooting jumpers is so important. A day after the trade I was wondering what the hell Curry was going to be doing when Randolph was in the post. The threat of Curry's jumper will clear space for Z-Bo down low and provide another outlet for him if he is doubled-up. It goes a long way toward making their skills less redundant.

That should be obvious from day one.

Curry is actually a pretty good offensive rebounder. If Zach is inside I want Curry on those boards. Zach doesnt have much lift inside so he isnt going to be dunking many balls. Its important that Curry gets in there to support him on the offensive boards when the ball goes up.

First of all you are dead wrong on this one. I have a buddy from my youth who went to the other public school in my town. We never played on the same team together. The only time we ever played was pickup during the offseason. This guy was my PG. I dreamed of having him on my team. HE knew my game inside and out. He knew when I was frustrated, he knew when my game was on. He knew that I liked the passes at my stomach and not my chest. He figured out that when I put my head down on a dribble that the ball was going to be shot. He knew all this from playing with me 1000 times. So senior year when he transferred to my school, he came from a run and gun offense to my structured one. We had never played at any moment of our lives together in a structured slow it up halfcourt offense. When we played at the courts we always played run and gun. Yet somehow even though we were playing in this system for the first time, we still had that ESP together.

Now this ESP between Curry and Zach is not going to develop overnight. But the more they play in any setting the quicker it will come. NOw if they don't do this, of course it doesn't mean they won't be able to work together. But if they do this it will show the rest of the team that they are truly serious about making this work. And that is leadership!!!!! Something we are dying to get from our best players. Not criticizing the two for not doing it. Just wish they would

I'm skeptical that a guy who can't hit foul shots will have an effective jump shot. I'd rather see him work on his defense and rebounding.

i'd rather see him work on his foul shots. but hopefully that will improve as a nice side-effect of the extra jumpshooting he is doing.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

If he's been working out since the end of the season, don't you think that is part of the idea? He's not just looking to lose weight but refine his game too. Really all the continual lack of understanding when it comes to our players is getting old. These guys for the most part are working on their games as they should. We know that they've been getting together with the exception of Zach at MSG. As long as Zach comes into camp in shape and he's ready to go, then I have no issues. Eddy is clearly doing something to improve himself this summer and I think we should see some results from that work. There's still time for these guys to continue to build chemistry and prepare for the season.
