Thats the problem with the Knicks

1. We suck!
2. Better players suffer because Isiah is a bonehead

What crawford provides he always subtracts. I believe Nicholas has good potential, good confidence and a good head on his shoulders.

Marbury/Collins
Q/Nicholas
Balkman/Chandler
Randolf/Lee
Curry/Morris

If you really are trying to build for the future......

MS- you're dead on with those 10.

Wonder if Sac town would take Q, Nate & Craw for Artest.

My advice to DNic is in your next life make sure you get drafted in the 1st round. It's make life for the baller a whole lot easier.

this is dumb, no way do we send him to Italy
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

hold up guys check out what the Dallas Mavs are trying to do... its the same thing:

#44 pick Reyshawn Terry is in an even worse predicament. Dallas is booked solid with 15 fully guaranteed contracts, and does not have any room to maneuver unless they swallow the $770,000 guaranteed on Brandon Bass’ minimum deal. That seems highly unlikely considering that he just signed it. From what we were told, Terry is being shopped overseas by local European agents, and the Mavericks have tried to recommend him to high-level Euroleague coaches—which makes sense since they’d clearly prefer to stash him in Europe rather than have to cut him in training camp and lose his rights.

-#53 pick Demetris Nichols might be stuck in the worst situation of any of the drafted players. The Knicks already have 16 players with fully guaranteed contracts before Nichols even comes into the equation. That means for him to survive training camp, New York will have to cut both Fred Jones and Dan Dickau (combined salaries: $6,290,028) for him to have the honor of being their 15th man. Unfortunately for Nichols, both Jones and Dickau fit in very nicely on New York’s depth chart as 3rd string guards, while the Syracuse product is staring at the chance of being the 5th small forward on the roster in the unlikely case he makes it. Needless to say, the situation looks bleak. And even more needless to say considering the trend we’re starting to see, Nichols already fired his agent Bill Duffy and hired Bill Neff to sort out the mess in his place. Is it Duffy’s fault that New York’s roster situation is as sorry as it is? Probably not, but someone had to pay the price.

Yeah, I guess DNic sees Chandler getting his contract and says wtf but he doesn't understand the benefits of being selected in the 1st round. It makes so much of a difference. Chances are that even if he was on the roster he could still be put on the D League team. So what are his choices in the matter. The Knicks own his NBA rights unless they renounce him in training camp. The Knicks could offer him a minimum contract but it appears unlikely he will sign it and they still own his rights. I guess the fact that his girlfriend is expecting has a lot to do with him wanting to play right away in the US because the Knicks approach is not bad. He can actually make more money playing overseas for a season and securing a better contract with them next season after the roster is trimmed. I guess Duffy was going along with that scenario.

Here is what Hellskitchen wrote at realgm.

Latest:

Knicks have told Nichols' new agent that they may cut him if he refuses to play in Europe.

Isiah wants to hold on to Fred Jones. Dickau's a goner.

Jones, another Thomas' project whose career I guess he is trying to revive. Would be a terrible move by him, not to mention that he acquired him via a trade where he gave up a 2nd rounder. To bad that Dolan has put a restriction on cutting players. Just a outright dumbass move by him.

i will go nuts if Isiah cuts him.
I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

So Isiah drafts another small foward who will never get playing time for us, and Nichols is a player we really need, and he's looking gone.

This organization is SO F'ing stupid!

Are we starting to understand why the "haters" hated the Jerome James type signings so much. It leaves no room for guys like this. Trim the fat. Bench players should be paid like bench players to allow flexibility. Hopefully our staff will continue to learn from their mistakes and start cutting these guys.

KNICKS MULL NICHOLS' FUTURE
By MARC BERMAN

August 22, 2007 -- Rookie shooting guard Demetris Nichols refused the Knicks' request to play this season in Italy to solve their roster crunch - a denial that could shorten his Knicks career. However, the Knicks will improve Nichols' chances of making the club by releasing point guard Dan Dickau in the next three weeks to reduce their roster to 16, according to sources.

"He's not going to go overseas," Nichols's agent, Bill Neff, told The Post. "He wants to play here right away."

The Post reported last month the Knicks were considering sending Nichols to Europe for a year. Neff claims Nichols' former agent, Bill Duffy, had a draft-night agreement with the Knicks that Nichols would play in Italy, prompting Isiah Thomas to trade for his rights.

Nichols fired Duffy last week. The Knicks will extend a tender offer to Nichols by Friday's deadline to retain his rights. Neff said Knicks VP Glen Grunwald told him Nichols may not make the team if he doesn't go to Europe.

If the Knicks release Dickau, they will be one over the limit. Thomas wants to keep Fred Jones, his former pick in Indiana. Dickau would have been the fourth point guard after Stephon Marbury, Mardy Collins, and Nate Robinson. Dickau has just one year ($3.6M) left on his pact.

Dickau's agent, Mark Bartlestein said, "We've talked, and Isiah is going to do the right thing and help him if it's not going to work out with the Knicks."

hopefully this doesn't become a wasted draft pick.

This is why Isiah gets a F when it comes to scouting and drafting guys from Europe who would bring the same theing Nichols would bring.

They wouldn't mind playing over seas for a season or 2.

As a franchise we havent moderinzed our team with potential players from Europe. WHY NOT?

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.
