Well that's the thing DJ:

Ainge is actually probly a BETTER drafter than Isiah; not only b/c of the talent he's garnered, but also b/c he has enough sense to KEEP HIS PICKS and maximize his strength.

Ainge gave up a Top 3 protected pick for KEVIN FREAKIN GARNETT.

And yet Isiah gave up not 1, but TWO unprotected picks for EDDY FRIGGIN CURRY.

How is it that this guy still has a job?

He just added a max contract, which I don't mind b/c Zach is a terrific player, but we didn't need more post scoring, and we didn't need more rebounding.

We're a top 3 rebounding team, and already have the best post scorer this side of Tim Duncan or Shaq.

We needed shooting, defense, and cap space.

And a LEGIT franchise player.

Not only has Isiah NOT done that, but he's put us in cap hell all over again.

But at the end of the day, I only blame James Dolan, who has the foresight and common sense of a kangaroo...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

I think you meant to say... GM, not drafter. Isiah is a damn good drafter.

Well, Ainge also gave up Jefferson who himself would be worth an unprotected lottery pick.

Watching the press conference, you can't help but be impressed with the big 3. KG, Pierce and Allen are smart and classy guys. You really can't get any better. I LOVE KG and it's gonna be tough to root against him, cuz I HATE the Celtics, but KG is my favorite player in the league. I love how he loves the game and plays hard every single night. I've wanted him to win a title for a while but now if he did, it would be at our expense which i'm not happy with. I wouldn't have a problem with it, as long as we won our own title

i just want to re-iterate my position, i think ainge has done a fantastic job this summer.

regardless if it works out or not, this is EXACTLY what a gm is supposed to do.

try to draft your franchise player (which may include tanking) and if you can't, get cap room to sign one or trade for one.

ainge assessed his youth, saw that the only guy with breakout superstar potential was jefferson. saw the #5 pick may not yield that superstar guy. so he cashed in, got ray allen and kg without giving up pierce and is in a prime position to put together a team to compete for a title. not the playoffs, not the 8th seed, but a title.

this is a fantastic move. more moves need to be made but as of right now, ainge did good.

Couldn't agree more but he got fortunate along the way because he almost traded Pierce for CP3 2 yrs agon until Paul sabatoged the deal. He almost traded for Baron Davis 2yrs ago until the Warriors requested 1 additional young player. But he's actually had deals in place or packaged deals sacrificing for players who are winners not losers like I SAY UGH.

Good post Nix, I agree 100% It's hard to not root for guys like KG, and Ray but we're going to have to since they are now belong to our bitter rival. And DJ is right, it was awesome seeing them hold those jerseys up together, the Celtics are going to be pretty damn hard to beat.

I still can't say enough about the job that Danny Ainge has done. I said it in another thread but while Isiah was busy getting guys with questionable attitude and work-ethic, Ainge has been accumulating a group of players that team want and he went out and get 2 of the most classy and quality players this league has to offer. These 2 GMs are on the complete opposite ends of the spectrum.

I'm just asking you a simple question from what you described why you like K.G. What Knick player represents those qualities you like in K.G.?

Ainge is arguably a better drafter than Isiah.

The proof is in the pudding...

He's even had the common sense to keep most of his picks, Martin, cmon.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Btw, what happened to the whole draft night thing?

Not that I was actually gonna go, b/c I was hung over, but I'm just curious...

Keeping picks has nothing to do with who is a better drafter...BTW, who are these players that Ainge has drafted that are better than what Isiah has picked over his career?

Isiah has had the 7th, 43rd, 21st, 23rd, 29th, and 30th pick in the past few drafts. Nate was a miss although he is talented, Frye was a disaster, Lee was a great pick and he overdrafted balkman and chandler. Marcus Williams and Lowry are very tradable assets, balkman has some value........

I like what isiah has done with his picks we have nice role playing talent. But the fact remains outside of a gimme pick in 96 in the deepest draft in years he has made a few great selection TMAC being on of them.

Ainge drafted Tony Allen, Al Jefferson, Perkins, Rondo, Gomes, Green, etc. So if your comparing i think you have to give ainge the edge vs. knicks/celtics picks.......

Isiah has yet to bring in an allstar or anyone that has made an allstar team with the knicks or has improved the win total. Everyone also mentions curry is better than what we could have had, but here we are the number 5 picks get Ray Allen, our pick last year could have brought us a superstar.

But the fact remains isiah hasn't even bought us a playoff spot with the latest deal as we were just blown out of the water by the cetlics and maybe the last place team in the divison, if not second to last ahead of philly........

Look who has value on the knicks if we can get a top 25 all time player with an expiring and some late draft selection perhaps i would give isiah his credit

Good post.

I hate Boston and I don't like the Celtics but I can always root for KG and I like Jesus.

This post isn't even worth a response, that's how stupid it is to be honest.
