Phar, if all that is true, I agree, it's just as bad as Pit Bull fighting and should be just as punishable.

Like I said, any type of animal cruelty shouldn't go unnoticed and unpunished.

I think people in America have double standards Vick is getting more trouble because he chose Dog fighting as his sport. If he had chose Hunting or Chicken fighting he might not have had so much trouble. I personally think Hunting is right up there with Dog fighting, shooting a defenseless animal for sport is just as creul if not more than what Vick did. In America a dog is considered his best friend where as chicken is dinner Vick should have chosen Rooster fighting instead.

i like vmart's reply. how is this any different than getting a shotgun and icing some defenseless animals? i mean, i read the stuff and most of it is bizarre and terrible, but, whatever, its dog fighting. 5 years in jail for this? seems pretty over the top, plus, like i said initially, the world's biggest terrorist is still chilling somewhere in pakistan planning to F more stuff up, why not spend resources to catch his ass rather than taking down mike vick for dogfighting.

Hey man, I'm not going to wish that kinda thing on anyone but if he gets charged and persecuted then he's certainly getting whats coming to him. No person should advocate raising dogs just to fight each other until severe bodily harm or death.

I'm with people who think this is way over the top.

Its just dogs. Fine him, do community service. But jail? For what? People get away with probation for much worse things.

I never got animal rights activists in the first place. Humans are suffering all over the place and you wasting your time and money on animals.

Who cares.

I'm by no means an animal rights activist but what these people do to dogs is just downright disgusting. It's probably because I own a dog and just in no way can see how people could do that to a dog.

It would be different if he stole dogs, or took other peoples dogs that are pets and used them.

But he bred these dogs for fighting. Just like people breed cows for milk and meat.

What about circus animals? I don't think animals have any rights. Thats why they are animals.

I personally don't like killing animals or dog fighting, but if somebody wants to hunt, or raise dogs to fight, that is their own business, and who an I to judge them?

People are so full of themselves these days.

Also, have you ever seen guard/attack dogs in action? They are no pets. Vicious animals. It all depends what they are bred for.

Um... dude, wtf. There's two issues:

A) Dogfighting.
B) Murdering of dogs who didn't fit the bill.

Both are wrong and truly disgusting. You're going on and on about how there's a double standard because people find it universally acceptable to be cruel to and kill other animals. You're going on and on because your feeling is that dogs don't matter. Yet, it is clear to me that your belief is not even close to universally accepted. Now, are people more touched by this story because we're talking about dogs? Of course. I don't see your point other than that you believe illegal behavior is okay (or isn't that bad). Wonderful.

Bin Ladin is no longer wanted by the US Government. Why? Because he is a CIA asset. Look at the history of the US and Bin Ladin, and because of our policies and us attacking Iraq for ten years, it pissed off a lot of terrorists, and this is why 9/11 happened. I don't believe that our government did it, but I do believe that they let it happen and trained the people here. You can look at undisclosed documents like Operation Northwoods where they blamed an attack on another country and went to invade them. Let's all look at the big picture. Not about D or R, but about rich and poor.

I don't get the "Double standard" thing either. I said time and time again that animal cruelty, whether against pit bulls, horses, chickens, or great white sharks is dispicable (Sp?) and should be punishable. And btw, I'm no vegan or anything. I eat meat with the rest of them, but that's b/c I have to eat. Going against nature (Damn right I think that's serious and don't think that should be taken lightly) and watching it suffer for entertainment value is going to haunt you, deservingly so, sometime down the road.

I understand that people just flat out don't care, but it's F'ing stupid when those same people say people are going way overboard about this, when they're most likely uneducated about the fact in the first place. Get a clue.

The last pitbull I had someone stole her, and i can only imagine that whoever did it is some sick **** like this animal...I hope Vick does 10 years in jail the ****ing piece of garbage that he is. Fucking oxygen thief.

No it depends on how they are raised. If you raise a human being from birth to kill by fighting it from childhood and feeding it raw meat seasoned with gunpowder you will end up with a ****ed up human being. The same for dogs.

A dog is a dog. If you raise it to be a balanced and healthy and obedient and disciplined and happy animal, you'll have yourself a kind dog that everyone loves. If you raise it through terror and torture, you'll have a dogfighter and possibly an animal who can attack people. This goes for all dogs. The only difference between a pitbull and other dogs and just the way they are physically built. They are stocky and strong with powerful jaws. In terms of their mindset though, they are typical dogs and aren't much different from the rest. Just gotto train them much more carefully simply b/c THEY ARE powerful. Not because they are vicious by instinct.

If I'm Atlanta, I immediately name Harrington as the starter and use Vick as a gimmick player.

That way if he's still available to play for you, great, if not, it doesn't disrupt the whol season.

Standard practice for dog fighting is to steal dogs to use as bait. There's a 99.9% likliehood that this took place in Vick's case.

Just because they are trained to fight doesn't mean they want or deserve to suffer. They are just doing what all dogs do... to be loyal.

I'll give you a pass and just consider you ignorant of all the horrendous things that go along with dog fighting.

Who are you to judge Vick? You should have more respect for yourself. Judge away... he is peice of **** who deserves a painful death. If I was the judge he'd be getting his intestines ripped out, legs torn apart, and left to bleed to death on the ground.
