I know it's way to early to be thinking about this since the college season hasn't even started but I think we should be keeping a close eye on alot of college PG's. This years Freshman PG class is littered with future NBA lotto picks(Eric Gordon/Indiana, OJ Mayo/USC, Eric Rose/Memphis) so I'm not sure if we'll be crappy enough to draft one of those guys. One guy I would keep my eye on is Ty Lawson from UNC, the guy has serious PG and playmaking skills BUT he's only 5'11. He's a serious player though.

Don't we already have like four point guards?

We do but none of them are really PG's.

Prediction: Steph retires in 2 years. Isiah is surprised. Isiah having traded Jamal, Mardy and Nate for 2 SF's suddenly realizes we have no PG and then decides to resign Jerome James to the full MLE in a desperation move because "we have no PG". Just you wait and see.

Again, not crazy for announcing his retirement or that he is planning on spending part of that retirement in Italy. However...

As a Knick fan (allowing me to criticize Steph from a purely selfish point of view) I'm unhappy with the amount of non-basketball related news that’s coming up about Stephon lately.

It was nice to hear that he is planning on averaging 12 assists (or dimes or whatever) as concentrating on distribution and defense while deemphasizing his scoring is exactly what we need him to do next year playing alongside Zach, Eddy, Q and Jamal.

However, it is sounding to me like Stephon thinks that is going to be easy, like he thinks slowing down half his game means he is only going to have to work half as hard.

It’s early in the off-season yet, and I won't pretend to know what Marbury's plans are. Word is that he has moved his sneaker promotion tour to earlier to allow himself to get into shape to play basketball. But after the way he came in to last season, as a fan, I want to hear that he is getting into shape and playing ball sooner rather than later. Right now, it sounds to me like Marbury isn't thinking much about the upcoming season at all. A season he is being paid over $20 million to play.

OK, speculation done. I'll assume, for now, that Marbs is planning on being a professional for at least another two years. I'd just rather we weren't seeing small signs right now that he might not.

This is a good reason why we should consider trying to keep Dan Dickau. For lack of a better option, we're currently in a situation where in two years, Mardy Collins and Dan Dickau are our two best options at PG if we can assume Steph won't be in the mix.

Dickau is NOT an option at PG. If Collins is not the goods, there will have to be a move.

Explain. An unselfish team-first passer at PG on a team with mostly scorers. How is that not a good fit off the bench?

I'm glad Steph doesn't care what we think and has more self awareness about himself. I just don't want this to be like when Tiki Barber announced his coming retirement from the Giants. It was the storyline every week with the Giants.

Looks like Steph was reading UK too much and he start hating NY and America...
No love for him at all lately. Nobody buying jerseys, everybody point fingers and call him moron and on crack...
In Italy he will be a celeb and hero.
What do you think America? Rejected

I understand Marbury saying I want to go to Italy rather than in 2 years the NY Knicks saying we dont want you. Nobody wants to be told their services are no longer needed in any job.

Maybe he saw that Francis got 30 of his 33 mil and if he can get a buy out and not play the game for money anymore it may be nice.

Hey, im sure he loves to play, but after a while the body starts talking and the money is gonna be there.

So maybe he thinks if he can get bought out and eat pannini's why not try it?

Truth be told, if that was an option he would be crazy to not try!

I am not a Marbury fan, but I don't see the problem with his blog. It is his life and he needs to follow his heart.

i think everybody should become desensitized to marbury's off the court stuff.

but as a knicks fan, it seems like we wasted alot of time with marbury running the point here.

Why? it's one of the most entertaining aspects of the Knicks.

Well, said. You pretty much nailed why (again as an NYK fan) I'm not very comfortable with this media blitz. I definitely question his commitment in that I don't think his head is really in the game nowadays. I think we should be prepared for another slow start from this season. Hope Mardy and Nate (if he's still here) start well.

"Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs"..."Loco:...

Ok, someone is going to have to explain that to me.

Sounds like Stephon is essentially announcing he is going to retire after his contract ends, and will be spending that time working on his business ventures and playing a little b-ball honing his jump-shot in a league not nearly as demanding on the body as the NBA.

And in Italy no less. If you had the coin, you would be crazy not to do it.

You have to imagine that sometime into this upcoming season people were going to start speculating about what will happen with Marbury when his contract is up. Is Isiah going to resign him or trade him, will Marbury take the vet minimum or will he look for a pay day? Retirement isn't a crazy option, and neither is answering the speculation now, before it becomes a distraction.

But then, is there anything Stephon Marbury can say that you guys will not call "loco"?

Yeah, I thought so.

i don't think he's nuts at all. the guy is already planning for down the road. besides, he ain't getting no youthier.
