Chandler = Perhaps our most natural wing player in a long time. Great size and athleticism. As was mentioned, he is a very good defender who moves his feet well and like Balk, has great timing on blocking shots. I love the way he doesn't over penetrate and instead pulls up for a midrange Jay (overpenetrating leads to offensive fouls ans charges). Very smooth standstill jumper and is very unselfish. Needs to work on his handle in terms of breaking his man down. Reminds a little of Caron Butler. Not as good yet, obviously.

Nichols = Would like to see the coaching staff nuture him into a shooting guard. Doesn't have the strength to deal with most SF's but has the lenngth and catch and shoot ability of a Hamilton type of player. Again, needs to work on his handle, but a confident shooter.

Morris = Fundamentally sound. Better shooting touch than I anticipated. Plays below the rim, but boxes out nicely which allows him to secure rebounds. As was said, he looks more like he's 6'9. Solid 4th big man in your rotation.

Good points - espcially the idea of using Nichols at the 2 rather than the 3.

I was trying to figure out the "real sizes" of the rooks. I found a pre-draft measurement for nichols that has him at 6'8, 1/4" with sneaks. Chandler looks the same size. Morris looks about 2" taller than them, it puts him at 6'10" which is ok.
fishmike 9/27/2024 11:00 PM Ug I hate this. The idea of Towns is great until you see what a pussy he is. Jules is a dog. DD was a flamethrower locked up cheap for 3 more years. First Leon move I hate

Did R Morris ever attend a pre-draft camp (i.e. the year he declared a couple of years ago)? I wonder if his real height would be availble from that source.

Morris looks 6'10" to me. He's no seven footer.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Looks to me like Isiah managed to get 3 first round caliber players with only 1 first round pick

You can't be anything but pleased with the draftees. They all showed you what you want to see. They played TEAM BALL which was the most pleasant thing to see. In fact all of Isiah's draft picks have been good guys that you feel real comfortable with. They all seem to have NBA skills

Nichols is the kind of shooter i've been dying for. Tall, quick and accurate. He's smart too. Defended like he cared and you can see how his length will help him in that regard. I see him as a SG personally.

Chandler was actually better than I expected. I didn't expect such a smooth handle and movement. His shot was much smoother than the analysts made it sound. He's of course very athletic, but his D and ability to grab a reb and get out on the break a la Balkman was a great thing to see. He should fit right in with our guys.

Morris is a solid bigman. He snatches rebs and holds his position very well. He's like a more agile Jackie Butler. I like the shotblocks too. His offense will come. I think he has the raw ability to get much better than he is right now.

Overall the kids are another job well done by Isiah and his staff. To those who think we're all about the here and now, just look at the youth on this roster. We've got enough good young talent for the future on this team. ALL of them can play and I wouldn't be scared to put any of them in a game during the season.

Have to give Isiah some credit. 3 mid to late rd picks, one free agent, & a 2nd rd pick dominating summer league like that. All with 0-2yrs NBA experience.

Next year's going to be the test because I'd think Isiah can't take another small forward after Lee, Balkman, Chandler, Nichols in 3 drafts.

PG maybe? The next Isiah maybe?

Please don't take Thabeet, I'm sure it'll be tempting

tomverve - Wilson Chandler is an interesting player from the perspective that he blends well with others. His game has an easy feel to it, meeaning he doesn't need the ball in his hands to make a contribution.

Bill Bradley once talked about always knowing where you are on the floor. Chandler does not get caught in traffic. He does not force things. Somehow, he finds or creates space. As you are so accurate in your observation, "it will open up the rest of the court for him."

Nichols is not as long as Walter McCarty. Think of a build more along the lines of Michael Finley before a decent weight-training program. The similarity, once again, is in the ability to find space. From an open look, his shooting technique is solid and confident.

Randolph Morris has a near perfect build for a frontcourt player. His body is proportioned and he does not carry any excess pounds around the waist. If a person wasn't paying attention, or looked at him with a suspicious eye, he could be labelled as lazy because he moves quicker when he feels an opening. He picks his spots like a veteran player.

Morris, if he decides to add 5-10 pounds of muscle to his upper body, and maintain a solid base, could use his arms to carve space without picking up tacky touch fouls.

Once again tom verve, you spotted the potential to run Morris at the four spot. The Knicks big frontcourt of Curry, Lee, Randolph and Morris, has more versatile talent over 6'9 than it has had in a decade.

the hidden beauty of the Summer league squad was the ability to run an effective 6'8 player at guard.

Balkman, Nichols and Chandler did a decent job of taking care of (and sharing) the basketball

egos in check, no one got greedy

a good sign of team-building
