Nichols-8 He wins time in pre-season.

I hope the minutes add up.

i understood the hate for nate stemming from his play last season but summer league he has been fantastic. i am in vegas right now watching live (posting from my phone) and nate has really slowed himself down. he leads the sl with assists per game, is being vocal on d and shooting only good shots. he is definitely in the running for minutes in the back court.

Get rid of Nate, don't be fooled by him schooling Summer League players. The Knicks have enough scorers and need a player who actually thinks before he does something.

Sigh...you sure it's not you that's being fooled? I'm just curious...have you watched Nate play in SL this year?

A diffent perspective, i.e. the experienced players start, the rookies gradually get more time.

Early Season

Zack 25 DLee 23
Q 25 Balkman 15, Chandler 8
Craw 30 Nichols 10, N8 8
Marbury 25 Collins 15 N8 8

February and on
Curry 30 Zack 10 Lee 8
Zack 25 DLee 23
Balkman 20 Q 15 Wilson Chandler 13
Crawford 20 Nichols 20 N8 8
Marbury 25 Collins 15 N8 8

Curry [28]
Zach [34]/Lee [34]
Balkman [30]/ Jeffries [18]
Q [28]/ Nate [15] /Nichols [5]
Marbs [32]/Collins [16]

I see Morris, Chandler, Malik, James, to get spot minutes due to foul trouble.
I refuse to put minutes for Crawful in hope he is released or traded.

Over the course of a season, there will be players whose mins will be bigger than the amount of time available would suggest. This will be due to Blowouts and injuries. Guys filling in will see increased mins, but not get those mins consistently game in and game out. The number of mins only really matters for the starters and the 6th man.

Steph, Q, Jared, Zach, Curry
Lee, Jamal, Balk - These are our best players. For the 9th man you have either Nate or Mardy.

Then you have spot mins Malik, Morris, Nichols, etc. over the course of the year seeing varying minutes due to poor play, fouls, injury and Blowouts.

forget all this dilly dallying...time for this team to start winning.

as earl says - best 5 start
next 3 off the bench

the rest - practice your cheering and towel waiving.

it's time for these bastards to make the playoffs and get the garden jumping again.

I agree and that's why I listed my rotation the way I did. The top 8 are the players I feel will get solid minutes and the rest will see their time fluctuate based on the circumstances. THIS TEAM WILL WIN. We weren't far off from that when we were healthy and I believe the team is even better now, so I see no reason why this team won't win this year.

I dont think Jared Jefferies is a top 8 player. Let the practices determine who plays--we have scked. I don't care who has experience--- this team still hasnt been a winner. To say i want to defintively play 8 players with guys who are SUSPECT to injury is asking for problems. We have a deep roster--one that is catered to playing 9-10 guys. If we play Marbury Q and Crawford huge minutes--we'll walk into disaster--you shorten the rotation at the END of the year.

I remember last yr before the season started many fans were thinking our rotation was 10 deep. We got off to our usual mediocre-poor start, although we had all this talent and deep bench at our disposal. These same fans thought the rotation was too cluttered at the time. Then Whamo Mardy Paul Bunyans J.R. Smith and suspensions follow. These same fans were like "I think this will be a blessing in disguise because our rotation needed to be shortened". The team proceeded to go on a false three game winning streak and soon thereafter 1 win for every 2 losses followed. I SAY UGH started with the excuses how the players were gased and he needed his roster back at full strength blah blah and these same fans echoed his statements.

And Now

Here we go again with how deep we are and what the rotations may consist of.

It's "GROUNDHOG DAY" every season with this team

I don't see it happening, but this looks like the best.

I think cooler heads will prevail and we will be playing 9-10 guys. Marbury has missed nearly 30 games the last 2 years Crawford how many games? Q how many games? these guys dont have it in them to play 40 minutes 82 times a year and Curry can only go 30-32 before he gets winded. Jefferies is awful-- and its almost impossible to haev balkman and jefferies in the game at same time. I prefer to get Nichols and Chandler into the fire with Mardy Collins right away so that we have a developed back end of the bench. Having no quality reserves who can shoot cost us the playoffs last year. I cant imagine we would make the same mistake. this is a stepping process and these two players have to be implemented into the back end of the rotation

yeah, last year zeke proved that he was willing to shape the roster as the season progressed to get in position to make the playoffs.

His last 4 acquisitions are (ignoring the expirings) fill needs and put us in position not only for this year, but for year's to come.

Over the last 2 and a half Summer leagues, we've had the best yoots...that bodes well for the future.

especially with this roster, i don't think its that crazy to imagine either a) a bevy of different lineups throughout the year or b) players getting injured and others getting more time.

with Q (back), marbury (general wear and tear), lee (phantom leg injuries), curry (fat) all having their issues, i think this team's depth will be needed (and welcomed).

If there wasn't a need to trade some players out of here, I would say go full force with youth- I'd rather miss the play offs this year as we actually own our own pick this year.

But, the truth is you can only put five players on the court at once- and we still can't put five that are better than the opponents five.
