Crawford for Kwame Brown plus draft pick.

Why Crawford becomes Robin to Kobe's Batman and for us we get an expiring contract we can waive the bum and get a roster spot and salary purge. Start Q at SG and play Nate behind him.

That will be difficult for many here with a man-crush on JC to handle.
JC is too erratic. I don't think anyone will cry if we trade JC. Man, DNich can seriously shoot and crash the boards too. Imagine him backing up Balkman at the 3 playing with Lee and Nate. I'm liking this already.

Isiah can sure draft. I'm all in favor of dumping JC for an expiring. We have many players who can do what he does, only better. I'm thrilled about Nichols, its about time we have someone that can consistently shoot the ball from the outside.

WTF!!!! Are you a Lakers fan???

No, but I am definitely not a Crawford fan, he is too wild for my use and I suggested this trade to get rid of him. We would still have Marbury, Q and Nate as scoring options and can develop Nichols. I am not saying Nichols is ready yet, far from it but I think we could do no worse with starting this unit

PG Marbury
SG Q
SF Jefferies
PF Zach
C Curry

Lee
Mardy
Nate
Balkster
Nichols
Chadler
Rose
Biggie Fat

Notice No Jones and Dickhead to be used in trade to aquire reasonable player
Waive Kwame

There's no way Nichols won't be a Knick. Isiah was considering him in the first round. That's why he traded to get him when he fell.

All the kids will be on the team and they all look great.

I think Nichols has skills that will translate. He'll probably even find a few minutes this year, we all know QRich will get injured at some point.

I think you are a Bulls fan.............LOL

YOu don't have to be a fan of JC to see that Morris and JC for Kwame is just bad business.... I don't care who you like.

I'm not a fan of Q, but I ain't trading him and Morris for the rights to cut somebody. Makes zero sense.

As far as Nichols is concerned- for everyone saying this is summer league- I believe they paint the 3pt line in the same place here and during the regular season.

Granted, different level of pressure from this vs. real game- but, the kid was a second round pick- he is playing under the pressure of not making a roster- He has no guarantees. If things don't work out, no way he can assume another team calls and offers him a spot.

He might have to go out and get a real job like us if things don't go- that to me is pretty big.

The question is will he be a hubert davis or michael redd?

With Zach & Curry on the team, I can not see how isiah can leave him off the active roster.

One thing I like about both Nichols and Chandler is that they play on both sides of the court. Both can play d, both have jump shots and both seem like good, hard working guys who are coachable. We did well in this draft - especially considering where we drafted.

I think Nichols is already more of a scorer than Hubert Davis, who could not really guard anyone or create his own shot. Nichols appears to be, at least, a decent defender, he has shown a good passing ability, and he can do more than just stand around and shoot. I doubt he is going to get to a Michael Redd level but I think he definiely has the potential to be a more complete player than guys like Davis or Kapono.

I agree. It took Korver a few years to get his game up to the point where he did more than just shoot. I can see Nichols already abeing able to do more than that. PLUS he's already more of a defender than all of those guys. His size, length and quickness are quite good. As an overall prospect he's a steal for a 2nd rd pick IMO. Isiah does a good job of getting guys like him that are leaders on their teams. Frye, Lee, Balkman, Mardy, Nate, Morris, all of them had prominent roles on their teams and I like the confidence of Nichols.

That will be difficult for many here with a man-crush on JC to handle.

Jamal's a PG/SG... i don't get the point in dumping Jamal to make room on the roster for Nichols... i like what i'm seeing out of that kid too, but if you want him on this roster, it makes a ton more sense to get rid of a waste of space like Jefferies... until i see Nichols take this team on his shoulders in the 2nd half of a NBA game & win it in crunchtime, i'd like to keep Jamal around.

sorry if my mancrush on Jamal offends your mancrush on this kid who you haven't even seen play an NBA game yet... btw, anyone who thinks Nate is a viable option as a backup SG on this team is out of their freakin minds.

At some point Isiah is going to have to make up his mind who he wants to roll with and he'll have to make a move to clean up the roster. Nichols is the kind of player that can possibly help us win. Nate is a guy that has talent but may not be right for this team. I love Nates talent and energy, but this team needs SG's with size, not a SG in a PG's body. Nate is a hard guy to give up on and maybe it's unfair, but at some point we've got to make hard decisions on who we're going to go to war with.

I actually like Mardy more for this team than Nate. Tho Nate is a superior shooter, I feel Mardy is a better PG and more versatile Defender, which we need. Nichols is the kind of SG/SF we need for our perimeter game and I believe he's a safer bet than Nate. Nate relies so much on his freakish athletic ability, but that won't last forever and he's more likely to injure himself. Nichols doesn't rely on his athletic ability as much. I think Nichols overall combination makes the most sense. Sure this is all premature, cuz we haven't seen him in an NBA game, but from what i've seen he looks like he's just what we need. I don't care if it's Nate of Jared that get's moved, but it would seem that one of them will have to go at some point to make the roster work. None of this has to happen right away, but I would guess that Isiah is looking ahead to something like this.

Mardy and Nate really have to play together because Mardy's size mostly wipes out the defensive problem with having a 5 foot 2 guard.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Nichols looked more like a true scorer (rather than a shooter). He did a great job putting the ball on the floor and getting to the basket. He definitely looked for other things when his shot wasn't falling. I was very impressed. His passing looked solid too.

Passing looked solid and I liked the way he moved without the ball.

He's a good player, we are definitely going to have to find a spot for him via trade or cuts. If we can't make a trade by camp it will be very competitive at nearly every position.

I wonder if the best spot for him wouldn't be coming in as a sub for Randolph so that he would be matched up against a player that wouldn't be able to steal the ball from him until he gets the dribbling down.

Gay and Warrick have improved their handle a lot and have had to make similar transitions. The sky's the limit if Nichols can do it too.

He looks like a cross between Steve Smith(young version) and Reggie Miller.

Nichols has to be in the lineup come training camp.

Again who do you guys think Jamal is, he is a sub par player with amazing talent that can't play in a team concept with a long term deal. Do you want to win or just get excited when crawford makes three game winners a year and we win 35 games.

Because we are developing solid role playing talent you have your stars, marbury, zach and eddy and now you build around those guys and make up for their weakness.....

Its real hard to part with zero defense and 40% shooting and and average of 30 wins during crawford time here, but give me a break

Steve Smith- I sorta like that. The later career Steve Smith rather than early career Steve Smith that was trying to be Magic Johnson.
