It's really hard to figure out how Isiah is going to thin out the roster. When can Dikau and Jones be traded?

The problem is I think giving up on our young guys might come back to haunt us and thus I would be hesitant to trade them for marginal talent when we don't even know how good some may become yet.

Morris could be a legit talent. What would we do with Jason Williams? K-Mart is damaged goods. No thanks. I would not trade any of our young players unless we are getting a legit star player that we really need.

I get you now. Only thing is a useless player with an ending contract really worth giving up on Morris already when we have no other young centers, especially since he can score a bit in the paint, and is a stronger shot blocker and rebounder than Eddy? Cutting salary is practically irrelevant at this juncture in time, so other than worrying about Jeffries taking PT from other young players I guess I can't really endorse such a move.

having expiring contracts just to have them and giving up young prospects to do so is crazy talk.

Just read the original trade proposal, but I'd still rather cut james and the expirings. and hold onto to Jefferies and make sure he's not just unable to recover from the fractured shooting wrist as quickly as new yorkers expected him to recover, he was playing well right before the denver fight.

Idea of my trade is not to give up young talent- what I'd like to do is clear up roster space by consolidating Jeffries and James into one contract if possible. The idea being- both guys are useless to us so why not carry 1 useless guy rather than 2 if possible (without taking on too much more money). I thought Kenyon was a good target, b/c with his injury he might not even active for much of this year (though I've heard he's on the comeback trail), and Denver might get some use out of just a having a healthy forward up front like Jeffries. Kenyon may not even play again, so they're probably averse to wanting to pay him max dollars for the life of that deal, and plus they've had a rocky relationship with this player these last few years. Saving $10 mil and getting some healthy guys might be worth it for them.

But Kenyon doesn't have to be the target. I'm trying to think of other problem contracts.

Maybe D Miles? He's the kind of player yo dont want near your roster cause of character, but he's hurt and probably won't play anyway...

Or on the same team, LaFrentz?

I think Nolad posted the doc around the time of the trade.

Yea but what are we doing with dee lee in that situation, i love keynon but only if he is running, and we are not a running team with a great passer.....

If you are moving zach thats the only way you bring the guy in

The theory I pose in the first post is that Kenyon coming off another knee surgery and specifically a microfracture might not be playing much anyway, even this year. We have the flexibility (simply by having so many players) to let him take as long as he needs to rehab or even work him in slowly if we did take him on. I'm not so averse to him even sitting out this year and waiting to see if he can play next year.

Or even by having just 1 player, its easier to negotiate a buyout (rather than having to do it with 2 players).

The deal I am looking for Zeke to make is Nate, JJ2, Malik for Wally. Seattle gets an ending contract, special player in Nate (more ways than one) and a wildcard in JJ2. We get another sharp shooter.
Silly trade idea that could free up roster space...
