Lets make this simple for the people whose faces turn red if anything Isiah does gets praise.

Simple questions.

Did you think Balkman an Isiah draft pick played well last night?

Did you think Chandler an Isiah draft pick played well last night?

Did you think Nichols an Isiah draft pick played well last night?

cossucks, does any of this matter if we continue putting up 33, 23 and 33 win seasons? I'll answer it for you kindly. NO!

All we're looking for in the offseason are reasons to believe that the team will be better in the Fall.

This is a piece of the puzzle, that's all. No reason to freak out, but its a positive sign.

COS, it was a summerleague game dude. These games are played at a ridiculous pace and its hard to tell what players can really do. I mean yeah, some guys looked good last night but we have to take it for what it's worth, which is a summerleague game.

This is equivalent to Phil Hughes pitching great in Spring Training. Does that mean the Yanks are going to win the Series that year? No, has very little impact. Its a positive sign though, and fans are supposed to like positive signs.

Did I miss something? Am I supposed to be rooting for Durant to light it up against us and for Nichols to brick all of his shots?

That is true BUT you can also see guys skills sets.

Nichols nailing long range jumpers is a skill. That skill is not likely to change.

Balks defense is a skill. That is not likely to change.

That's a given but you have to admit if the Sonics and Durant would have handed to the Knicks. This board would be fill with how much the Knicks young players suck compared to other teams. I mean come on.

Very good post. Ask Isles fan who he was rooting for last night. Durant or the Knicks rookies.

My point is proven...the usual suspects are defensive and lashing out.

I dont need to see a list of all the summer league "studs" who didnt pan out, because there is always an inverse list. Point being that positivity shouldn't have an immediate wet blanket thrown on it. Dismissing a player after one summer league game is not the same thing as being encouraged by one summer league game.

This is combined with the fact that these are low risk, high reward players. The initial post was couched in potentials and a proper context. (although even at #23, Chandler is still somewhat of a controversial pick that Zeke will have to justify)

Nobody is putting these players in the hall of fame, all cossucks is doing is spreading some positive vibes. Overreaction is message board currency, might as well be positive and productive.

I definitely agree about Nichols shooting, I stated so in the game-thread.

Really, the only thing I watch these games for is to see if our young players have some skills. Nichols, Chandler, and Morris all showed they could play. In fact, Nichols might turn into the steal of the draft if he keeps hitting shots the way he has been. Does it mean that these guys are all going to be allstars? Of course not. In fact, other than Balkman and Nate, everyone else on the court yesterday is unlikely to get many, if any, minutes this year. But it does show that we have some young guys in the pipeline with potential, which is a positive thing.

Trust the Process

You are constantly ragging on the board and how much it bothers you. I think every post inlcudes something about how annoying it is to see people being negative, give it up already and accept it dude.

nyk4ever - Summer League is nothing more than a glorified pick-up game. The players are strangers, the rookies are trying to make a good first impression and the borderline cats are trying to get noticed.

Summer League is a small mans's league. It's crazy and spastic and out of control.

With that said, Summer League is also one of the best places to audition swing men, offers an opportunity to see how players match up at their given position, and (as cosucks alluded) a clue to an individual skill-set. One man's one-dimensional can be another man's compliment.

I'm wid that because I'm into how unique skill-sets mesh on the court.

If you're the Knicks leadership trying to sort out the competition at small forward - that's not necessarily a bad thing. Talent makes itself noticed without trying too hard.

it's an audition for the next level. A first baby step.

enjoy the ride

All you want to see in summer league is athleticism. I thought we saw plenty form our rookies and from the Sonics rookies, too.

Yup because 1 game is the truth.
