Don't hate any player
2 moments I can forget john starks 3-17 Charles smith not getting that thing in the basket.

best play of my time--no question--not even close allan houston jumper to beat Miami

runner ups Pat Ewing turnaround 3 against Boston to seal the deal LJ 4 point play John Starks dunk Bernard King 60 points against Nets and couldve had more

I remember that game on Christmas night. King had 40 at halftime. Thought he was going for 70. Nets put a longer defender on him (can't remember his name)King had trouble getting his shot off over his long arms. Also. whats forgotten about that game is Sugar Ray Richardson had about 40 pts and double figure assists in that game. Nets also won.

Jeff Turner guarded him much of the 2nd half with lots of help and "held him to 20 points"

Smith was hated long before he messed up against the Bulls b/c he was relatively soft. But the funny part, is you go back and watch some of those games now and there's no way you call Smith soft anymore when you watch him compared to this era. Thing is Smith was playing next Oakley, Mason, Ewing- 3 of the toughest frontline players you are ever going to see and of course he's gonna look soft compared to them. But he mixed it up, grabbed rebounds...he was twice as hard as Frye and guys like that.

Bonn, good point. If we're gonna talk about the general fan base, people seem to boo Houston a lot too, when he's making appearances at the garden and stuff. That contract alone changed everything.
We have been over this over and over. It wasn't the contract but what the contract made him and how injury prone he was just 2 years after his contract year.

I guess that was his fault. He was one of the most durable players in the league before the surgery.

DJ, you're right that the anti sematic remarks were pretty bad, but I rarely hear that being referred to. It's either the contract or the injury.

maybe from media and fans, but when you refer to boos at the garden, a good percentage of season ticket holders are of jewish heritage...

Point is, it's understandable that some people would be offended by that, but I'm pretty sure that a major reason the boos STILL occur from Knick fans is because of the contract and the injury.

If Houston gets booed for his remarks, then hey, we should be consistent and boo the other players constantly for some of the crap that goes on. Dog fighting, sexual harrassment, getting caught with dope not to mention, what's that thing, oh yeah, choking coaches, flipping off fans and oh yeah, poor bball play.

Does Freddy Weis count?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

1. Undoubtedly Larry Brown
2. Steve Francis
3. Charles Smith
4. Tim Thomas
5. Jerome James
How about Pat Riley? I still can't stand the effing guy.

If it weren't for Riley, those "glory" years of the mid-90s would never have taken place. He turned around the team in a hurry and maximized the talent he had to work with. I have zero problem with Riley.

Allan, I agree. The major dislike of Houston was his contract. The fact that we gave $100 million to Allan Houston would be the equivalent of giving near A-Rod dollars to a baseball player who maybe hit 40 home runs, but also put up a .230 average, 150 strikeouts, couldn't steal bases and couldn't field.

Some of the dislike of Allan Houston was probably misdirected, in that regard. The booing of Houston became more apparent once we were no longer winning, because Houston and his massive contract were supposed to keep us winning... and they didn't.

To me, the most hated player would be the ones that make me pay less (positive) attention to the team. So, booing the tv is bad... but then I'm watching. The most hated Knicks actually have me turning off the tv completely in utter disgust because they don't even try.

They are as follows:

1) Tim Thomas - Piss poor attitude, terrible human being, absolute cancer to his team, possibly the worst thing to happen to the Knicks. The mere fact that he is a member of the team devalues the team itself.
2) Stephon Trashbury - Same reasons as above.
3) Zack Randolph - Same reasons as above. Add suspected rapist, criminal and all around loser to the list. This one has a chance at turning itself around, at least -- I'm very (stupidly) hopeful that it will.
4) Nate Robinson - Absolute immature bonehead.
5) Channing Frye - I hate being right on this, but he got ridiculously overrated on every board, including this one and he miraculously jumped 20 slots in just a few weeks. Wasted draft pick.

Guys like Shanvis Eisleyspoon don't cut it. They played hard every night, played well, acted like professionals. The fact that they were overpaid and then all joined in our team, whilst being handed bigger roles that they had arguably earned, was various management errors and not a fault of those players.

What about herb Williams? He was a bum. he was washed up by the time he hot to the knicks. He wasn't even a center! He looked like he had sickle cell back then. Very weak overall. He always looked like he was drunk and about to throw up. I hated herb as a player. He kinda annoys me now a little with how he keeps that wise man demeanor. Whatever. He is probably a cool guy, its just he is annoying.

I hated greg Anthony. He was absolutely the worse NBA point guard in the history of the NBA. he could barely bring the ball up the court. His handle was terrible. He dribbled too high also and with his wrist it seemed like. What a retard. He only had one hand. His jumpshot was one of the ugliest I ever saw. His shining moment was being apart of a huge brawl. What does that say about his career.

He went on to the grizz and actually played well. Then is apart of a really good Portland team. Fuck greg Anthony.

Herb Williams was a decent backup center for his first few years on the Knicks. He was already over the hill when he got here, but he was good for about 10 minutes a game backing up Ewing. Didn't have much to complain about with him.

Now Greg Anthony- I'm with you on that one. He was just a godawful player with the Knicks. He driblled the ball for 20 seconds and couldn't shoot or penetrate for ****. He had the ugliest form ever, but actually Van Gundy really worked on shooting with him and he eventually became ok, but by that time we let him go in the expansion draft to the Grizz.

But dude was just unbearable to watch. He came with such high expectations from UNLV. LJ was great before he got hurt, but Anthony and Augmon mostly sucked.

David Wingate. Alot of young talent did not get a chance so that Ewing's buddy could collect a pay check. Another good thread might be most hated draft picks.

Id say my most hated Knick was Scott Layden. But if we're picking on players who ruined us during their time playing, Id have to say Charles Smith. I hated the Mark Jackson trade the day they did it, and still hate it to this day. Talk about having a massive body and not knowing what to do with it.

Agreed on Layden and Smith.
I'm going to add someone to the mix, and I know I'm going to get beat up for it, but I hated Gerald Wilkens.
He was a terrible shooter at the SG. I remember the Garden gasping every time he clanged it off the rim.

But more recently I HATED TT. He was such a LAZY dog, and so stupid. All that potential wasted!
Mo T was up there too.

Of the current squad, I don't hate any particular player, but there are some I hate to see get burn.
No reason for Malik to play. And JC's stupid off balance shots drive me crazy -- esp when the play
was to sit dribbling down the clock at the end of the game only to take a stupid shot. I mean,
did they really have to call time out to run that play every time?
