VMart - Bibby is a great call. I still think that deep down Isiah feels he needs lead guard insurance just in case Marbury wears down or, (wash my mouth out with soap) he gets injured.

The Knicks can bundle any one of the following vets for salary match:

a) Malik Rose, Jerome James, Jeffries

and any one of dese yoots to make the package attractive:

b) Nate, Collins (although I like his game and demeanor lot) Randolph (although I think he could develop into a legit player) or (last but not least) Balkman (hey, you gotta give to get)

for Ron-Ron and Bibby

Then it REALLY gets deep

I dont have much faith in small, rail thin guards...I think the league will catch up to Martin and eventually swallow him up.

like they did with reggie miller and Rip Hamilton?

LOL at the Miller comparison. Not only are you comparing Martin to an all time great, you fail to account for the fact that the league of the '80s and '90s wasnt as physical, large, and consistently rugged as today.

UH... The 80's and 90's were decidedly more physical than the league is now. Did you forget about the Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, Knicks and Heat from those decades? The NBA rules allowed for much more contact and grabbing than you have now. You can't breathe on a guy now without getting a foul call.

dwyane wade went to the line about 25 times a game in the 06 finals. in the lakers/pistons series (or even the pistons/celtics, pistons/bulls) of the 80s, he would've gone maybe for an and-1 or 2, and thats it.

decidely more physical today is absurd.

i can't see isiah being interetsed in mike bibby, its too deep at that point.

and i like point made by misterearl re: artest by february. if the knicks hold out the price only goes down. maybe artest will be traded before then, but if not, an expiring contracts deal at the deadline could do the trick.

Are you guys serious????

Check league scoring of the '80s and early '90s...damn near everyone averaged 100 pts. It was a finesse league that was emphasized by a wide open style, popularized by the Lakers/Celtics which in some lapse of logic you guys are claiming were "physical teams"...Shoot, players were too high on coke to even think about playing D.

The Pistons were the exception to the rule, which is why their style gained so much press. Our Knicks actually ushered in the defensive-minded mentality of the mid-90s, which still holds today and accounts for the 70-65 barnburners of which we are routinely subjected.

Players are much bigger and stronger, hence more physical. George Gervin dominated the league and he weighed about 100 pounds...no prob. The press started sweating over Durant's frame, best believe they will have that cat sleeping in the gym.

sebstar watch nba tv any day and watch a hardwood classic and then tell me about the league. for the last week i've been having my cereal while watching the celtics, lakers, pistons, and bulls of the 80s.

a) the players were a TON better because there were 22 teams in the league, not 30, and every team went a legitimate 9 guys deep. scoring was in the 100s b/c the vinnie johnsons of the world coming off the bench. not to mention people could hit the midrange J.
b) the hardness/physicality of the fouls back then was WAY more intense. nowadays you get a flagrant II foul for putting a guy on his ass, then it was just a normal foul. the other day in the celtics/pistons series robert parrish literally turned around and punched laimbeer in the face twice and NO FOULS were called b/c laimbeer had been a cheapshot artist the whole series. now, parrish would be thrown out of the game and suspended for the rest of the series.

you cannot tell me with a straight face that the frontline of the cavs with varejao and gooden and ilgauskas is more imposing then parrish, mchale, and bird. (not to mention the guards...isiah, dumars, dj, etc etc)

I told you I loved David Lee

David Lee joined the Knicks’ summer-league team for practice and played in a full-court scrimmage for the first time since the season ended. Lee missed most of the season’s final two months because of an injury in his lower right leg. “It responded very, very well, didn’t have any pain,” he said, although he conceded he was a little tentative. Lee will not play any summer-league games but is participating in an informal big-man camp here with some of the other Knicks.

Lee is going to look great in a Kings uniform.

What a crop!! Lee will be in a Knicks uniform and will be an all pro in 3 years or less. Zeke ain't no fool. Lee is loved in New York because he can play. Now all he need is a jump shot and some defense. I would not give up Balkman. I like the way when he turns his head all that hair hits the opponant in the face.

"I'm confident I'll be here next year," Lee said. "Being in trade rumors you're mentioned for a reason, other teams want me on their team. But this is the city where I want to win a championship."
