The guy says no one is overpaid, and then in another breath says Curry is overpaid. WTF?

Where?

There a bunch of guys with the max contract that I would not consider to be overpaid. Lebron, Dirk, Kobe, Duncan etc. Yao Ming. Dwayne Wade. Rip Hamilton (actually most of that Detroit team). I think even Eddy Curry has a fair contract. There are more but these are guys I can think of off the top of my head.

Actuallly I think the major problem with the NBA is that they set salary thresholds, so players like to be paid to the limit. Any all-star or borderline wants the max. Any good role player wants the full MLE. So players get paid at 2 price points and rarely get paid in the middle of the scale.

I've gotta say, if you're an NBA player outside a rookie contract and you're not overpaid (and you're not playing at a league minimum contract), you've got a bad agent... or you're dumb. :)

There are a number of relative bargains out there - Boozer & Arenas are two 'of em. Each of those guys is all-NBA team 1 or 2 material. And neither makes the max.

Eddy Curry is a great deal, especially compared to what these non-offensively skilled centers like Hilario, Chandler, and Dalembert got.

Some players sign deals, then elevate their play to another level. Those are the ones who get stuck being "underpaid"...

MAX deals have ruined the game. Who deserves the MAX? I say only the All-NBA guys. If you're a first team all-nba player, you probably deserve the MAX. The problem with the NBA is too many guys who aren't even third team all-nba getting MAX'ed out. The fans pay the price in the end.

you should have to have made All NBA once to get a max deal
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

What i hope David Stern can do, when the next CBA expires, is create another Allan Houston exception for all teams in the league. Every 5, or 6 years its not a bad idea for the league's teams to be able to purge some bad deals.

Excellent post and I agree. I think the league should do something to maybe increase max deals but add a scaling factor so only elite players can get max or near max.

Thats why the best teams have veterans in their 30's on the bench who can still compete with the young guys but due to their age get paid less (Spurs, Pistons,Dallas, Lakers (Shaq era)

Really for what big men make, Curry is not overpaid.

If you add Tyrus Thomas and Joahkim Noah's contracts to EY's and factor he's only a 1-way player uhhhhhhh sorry he's overpaid.

I think that Isiah would have been too smart to draft Thomas.

Actually it should read add the salary of the #2 pick in the 2006 draft and the #9 pick of the 2007 draft to Curry's salary.

Rich it's very debateable who the Knicks would have chose if the pick was kept.

Give Isiah credit for one thing: with few exceptions he drafts the most talented player. His two biggest mistakes are Fred Jones and Frye, although, he appears that he recognized Bynum's talent (since he tried to acquire another first rounder), but he picked Frye because he was more NBA ready.

So it's not unreasonable to think that he would have picked a better player than Thomas.

The quality of this people in the league is as bad as it gets.
IT is bad but he is in a company with another 10-15 booms.
The lague is getting spoiled... from the head.

probably why you hear so many fans venting their frustrations over it... Dolan doesn't seem to mind paying the price for these non-max players signed to max contracts though... it must be great to be a CEO of a multi-billion dollar corporation & have money to burn i guess.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
