clearly being a fan means being a blind homer to anything & everything the franchise you root for does for better or worse

Or being a total whiner

Or being a total sucker.

With a name like Islesfan you would be the expert on sucking things.
Is Nassau coleusium still standing or was it condemned?

Oh no! He's ridiculing my hockey team on a basketball message board! What am I going to do?!?

And as far as being an expert on sucking things, someone with "SUCKS" in their name must know a thing or 2 about it. I bet you can suck a golf ball through a garden hose, amongst other things.

Sorry dude I dont swing your way. Try Bonn.

Awesome 3rd grade comeback. Really, that was just tremendous.

I don't know what has happened to the Knick fans. I've never seen them so down and negative as they've been the last few years. For me the darkest days were in Laydens last year. I have never felt so pessimistic as a Knick fan. I just didn't see any way out or any hope. The team was stuck and even the media knew that it would take a miracle to get the team out of that hole.

So the question is "has Isiah built a team that can win" I believe he has and he's set it up to have a future. We can't keep looking back and saying what about the 33, 23, 33 seasons. If we tried to do a traditional rebuild we'd have had a few losing seasons, so what's the difference really if the end result is a contender? Judge things based on the reality of the team as it is TODAY! Looking at this group I can say with confidence that this is a playoff team. Is that now a bad thing? How many fans are willing to go on record and say we have no shot in the East? To me you can go ahead and stick your neck out on that one, but it would be foolish. Just give the man his props for a change and admit that the team is improving.

Curry, Zach, Lee, Steph, Jamal, Q,
Jared, Balkman, Collins, Nate, Jones, Dickau
Morris, Chandler, Nichols, Malik and sorry to say James

That's a nice collection of talent so far and Isiah has his work ahead of him in refining the roster and making things work.

Nixluva the difference now is many on this board have made their identity in to bashing the team. So they no longer want the team to win because then they would then be wrong. So now they are thrilled anytime anything bad comes up.

So you admit that the Randolph trade was bad. Awesome.

what year are we living in again? and in what city?

have you listened to any sports radio in ny? have you listened to the fans that call in these stations? yankee fans, mets fans, giants fans, jets fans, rangers fans, islanders fans, etc. etc. etc....all ny fans COMPLAIN. and that's been the case for the past 20 years (in sports radio).

True the fan base does complain a lot. I think some are afraid the Knicks just might suceed then they would have to get new material to post about. You are always going to have a side that complains and a side that pro any movement. I think the Knicks are very close to competeing for a ECF not to far off. Looking at the Piston, Cavs and Bulls they have nothing on the Knicks anymore. I'm not even worried about the heat anymore.

This is not just with the Knicks, listen to all 1050espn and listen to all the calls. NY fans in general just complain too much, everyone thinks they are good enough to be the GM and they know whats right for the team. Every caller/poster loves to put their 2 sense in on how "their" plan would make the team better off. It doesnt matter how good or bad the team is doing. It's the beauty of the Tech era, everyone has a voice.

You are 100% correct. Its some sort of weird mentality that fans think they are perfect and know everything. That if the fans were in charge the team wouldnt lose a game. The media starts it because they are the ultimate hindsight 20-20 vision arm chair qbs.

Here's how I look at being a fan of the Knicks and basketball in general;
Until a player drops down from the heavens on your team like LeBron, Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, or Duncan your team is an underdog no matter how many dollars or built in advantages we might have.

As a fan of an underdog franchise, what I get excited about is effort. Effort from the players. (See Nate blocking Yao) Effort from the coaches. (See Aguirre putting in all that time with Eddy) Effort from the front office. (See Isiah making move after move despite their outcome, Dolan supporting him and his drafts getting better by the year).

In some ways I would rather see this team take the stubborn route and throw everything at the wall year after year rather than taking the route of the pansy Celtics and trying to take years off to try to get Oden or Duncan. Where has that got them? Is that a way to run a franchise?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

yes, it's all about our feelings of superiority & omniscience... it has nothing to do with just voicing an opinion about the state of affairs of a franchise... we're all just wannabe GM's who think we know more about the game of basketball than HOFers like Isiah who's won multiple championships during his illustrious career... they're just a bunch of squirrels looking for a nut in a world that revolves around us.

does that make you feel better guys? a little superior perhaps than us complainers who know absolutely nothing about the game while you somehow do? i'm glad you can sleep now that you guys got that off your chest.

I don't understand threads like this when the win totals for the last 6 years have been: 30, 37, 39, 33, 23, 33. Yeah things are just friggen peachy here in Knick land.

in 2005, i made a post (i wish we had a search function) called the "2005 NO THANKS CLUB". it was a list of players i would say "no thanks" to if the knicks were interested in acquiring them.

on my list were the following players: eddy curry, zach randolph, steve francis, jalen rose, jerome james, among the others (wally sczerbiak, etc).

it was a list made (jokingly) of players i don't like and don't really ever want to see on the knicks.

look at that list above, i made it before the end of the 2005 season. it's uncanny how many of those players joined the team after i made my post.

yup, i remember that thread... i remember plenty of people agreeing that Zach Randolph was not a player we should be targeting... interesting to see how opinions have changed about him since then.

Some posters here will support anything the Knicks do even if it's something they were against previously.

Hindsight is understanding an event after it's played out. For example, in hindsight Andrew and Martin would have rejected your attempt to sign up if they knew then that you had absolutely nothing to add of any consequence to this board.

This so called complaining that you and others seem to find so objectionable is hardly hindsight since most of the opinions expressed, occur prior to events playing out. For example, most people who dislike the Randolph trade are basing it on his troubled past and how they think he will fit in NY. I'm pretty sure he hasn't played a game yet as a Knick so how could it be called hindsight?

People express opinions on internet message boards, if you don't like it I suggest, nay implore, you to stop posting on this site.

Education, try it sometime.

the only guy around here that transcends all fans is me. so after me, everyone's in the same boat. there are just more vehicles to voice their opinions.

I've listened to sports radio for hour upon hour for decades. I remember when there was no WFAN or 1050. You had guys like Art Rust Jr. but no all night stuff like today. I'm fully aware of the changes that have occurred in the world of sports and this isn't just your normal fan reaction.

Yes I know that fans complain. It's usually the loud minority against a more quiet majority, but this minority has grown and it's NASTY about it. That's what i'm most bothered by. There seems to be an increase in KNICKS fans that are totally against the team and don't have any faith in or love for the current roster. They don't see any hope or positives to what we have. They take no joy in the team and they don't support the team or it's management. Don't try to tell me that they're just a little annoyed with the losing, cuz EVERY FAN is bothered by losses. What I don't get is the vitriol that is spewed from an increasing amount of KNICKS fans about the decisions being made for this team.

You would think that an astute fan would notice all the solid draft picks and the young and powerful frontcourt we have. Curry, Zach, Lee, Jared, Morris...DAMN what is wrong with that? is it perfect? No, but its better than many make it out to be, by a long shot.

From what I read these fans aren't perceptive or understanding when it comes to judging the young talent we have and all they talk about is the losses. Well you have to start somewhere. Sometimes you're gonna lose a lot when you're trying to build a team that is more about the future than the right now. They claim they would prefer a rebuild and yet they can't even handle the team we have which incidentally has a TON of draft picks and young players. GIVE ME A BREAK!

This latest trade and draft is a perfect example of just how out of touch these fans are. It's almost as if nothing short of getting Kobe would please them. In many seasons fans would be excited and hopeful about there new draft picks and developing young players, but nah, not these fans. They label anyone we get as mediocre. They forget that guys like Josh Howard and Tony Parker come from the same kind of humble low draft pick beginnings. It annoys me to no end. Freakin lighten up and enjoy your team like a fan should for once. It's OK to have an opinion, but don't be negative just for the sake of being negative. Right now there's no reason to so overly negative. You don't have to like everything but DAMN... don't act like there's nothing positive to talk about when it comes to this team.
Overall we're a fan base that complains a lot
