This thread = Exhibit A on why Knick fans cant stomach a rebuilding process.

Laugh @ a few losing seasons equaling a fan base of no expectations. Spoiled.

Are we rebuilding? Or are we being misdirected and redirected every three months as to the direction of the team? Fans just want an honest sentiment as to where this team is going. So far, the plan has been changed so many times, that most assume there is no plan. Or it's like one of those spoiled housewives at the mall. Every time she passes a store, she's gotta have the item she saw. Hey, why not... charge it, "it ain't my money" she claims, so there's no responsibility. Welcome to Isiah-land.

If there's a plan, great.

1) What is the plan?
2) Can we stick to the plan for more than 3 months before switching gears?

Solace - there is no available plan for public consumption. Get over it

It's a poker game where no one tips their hand to the media unless they are foolish or desperate for attention

The plan is to improve incrementally

Plan?

you want a plan?

let's share it with the entire league

The team should have some obvious direction we're going in. So far, every three months for almost four years, we've been either buyers, sellers, trying to get under the cap, trying to get younger, trying to get more veteran experience, trying to get bigger, trying to get more athletic, trying to get more character, trying to get more thugs... yet many of these contradict each other. So it gives the resemblance of no plan, since it's apparent to me that this is the process:

1) We make move A
2) We make move B which undoes move A.
3) We make move C which makes move B redundant.
4) We scrap move C, and move toward move D.
5) We scrap move D and move towards move E.
6) We don't make a move, as part of the plan.
7) We reject the previous and make a big move, which undoes our last direction.

At each juncture, we're reassured and told directly to our faces what the new plan is. Three months later, the plan has changed.

Does this team have a direction or not?

You can't honestly not understand why some fans are rather confused by Isiah's way of doing business.

And if you honestly believe there's any team Isiah has fooled, you need to look at his trade history. Even his draft history, have we surprised anyone? Most of the time our picks have been known a month in advance. When they haven't been, we made an amazing reach when we could've just traded down.

Welcome to Isiah-land.

Let's make this clear! Why do you look to get under the cap? To have the money and flexibiiity to get a good player who can help you win. Hopefully to make it to the finals. So if you get a call from a GM and he tells you that he's willing to give you a good player for practically nothing, do you say, "Nah, i'm gonna wait 2 years and hope I can get a good player then"? That is a huge risk. Isiah didn't want to make a move for a so so talent and clog up the cap, but to get a real stud with youth as well is not a waste of your cap. He also made sure to collect enough tradeable assets to make another deal possble. He decided to take his chance now as opposed to waiting 2 years and hoping the East was still weak and that one of the big FA's decides to leave their team.

You may not like his choice, but that's what he decided to do and no matter what he said it's his prerogative. Just like Ainge could change his mind about the #5 pick and take Allen. GM's are allowed to change there minds if a good deal comes their way.

If that player is Zach Randolph yep it's 100 out of 100 times I'll pass situation unless you are I SAY UGH or one of his groupies.

Any philosophy has booby traps...weak drafts, busts, relying on the bounce of ping pong balls, unappealing free agent pools. Nothing is linear and absolute. The "cap space" strategy, wherein one virtually guarantees a string of losing seasons in the hope of landing top free agents or draft picks, has been fraught with casualties. Ask the Celtics.

Sure, I'll cop to the "plan" shifting every so often, but that sounds remarkably similar to the strategy Bush used against Kerry. Its not as damming of a criticism as you claim. Missteps aside, one should remain congnizant of the tempeture and adjust accordingly. If an opportunity presents itself, jump on it. Dont tether yourself.

We're talking about arriving at the same destination, just using different routes. As far as I'm concerned, no strategy has emerged superior over the other.
