No the Knicks did not buy out francis and trade him he was traded and then he is getting bought out by Portland. It was on ESPN.

yes, that's why this is confusing... i don't think there's any way the Knicks could have agreed to a buyout w/Francis & still made this trade, because the cap figures being exchanged need to match up

considering there is no real source and that no one else has reported this, we can just call this one man's speculation or assumption.

Common sense answer is, if you are NY and you are able to trade Francis why would you buy him out ? and vice versa ?

Trade makes sense from portlands standpoint, instead of paying 4yrs of salary to Zach, they pay 2 years to Francis or possibly less depending on the buyout terms.
