no one's mocking his personal charitable contributions... if you don't understand why people get on Marbury's case by now, you probably never will... in which case, it wouldn't do anyone any good by explaining it to you.

Naw, it seems like you dont understand, B.

I invoke the charitable contributions angle, because it seems like no matter what this kid does, there is going to be a negative angle extracted from it. Its a consistent theme around here.

This quote is no different than people thanking god for every and everything. If he really likes Randolph and believes in the trade, so be it.

God the specter of "God" has been used for far more invalid reasons...i.e, The religious right and our current administration.

there have been several threads dedicated to praising Marbury for all the charitable contributions he's made over the past couple years... people's criticisms of Marbury have zero to do with what he chooses to do with his money away from the game of basketball... it has everything to do with the momentously ridiculous quotes he offers to the press, his conceit, his lack of leadership ability, etc.

Steph is a good man.
Not wery bright but hay he helping people in need.
This is more important that his bbal quotas and people will remember him as charitable player who never won anything on the court but had a big heart.

I think this is our Knick team and we are just going to have to deal with it. Do I like the trade? No, but there is not much we can do. Zach is 25 coming off his best season. I don't see him retorgressing in the Big Apple even though his actions will be scrutinize here even more than ever. Like Greg Oden said "Portland is the opposite of New York". If you are getting in trouble in Portland than wait to the NYPD catches up with you ass. I think another minor trade will be made, but we are looking at the future of the Knicks front court for years to come.

Why is there so much passionate hate when it comes to Marbury...even when he has a good year and engages in philanthropic endeavors he still gets ripped around here. What the hell is going on?

The "Passion of Marbury" is about his self proclaiamed greatness based on his incredible talent, but the lack of winning and a toxic personality on the court (surlyness and towels a drap'in" kind of conflicts with his benevelant off court contributions.

I think first and formost he is a basketball player which is where all his fame and fortune exist. For ten years he has embattled his coaches and players for the most part which in basketball, a team sport, does not lend itself.

Years of Unfulfilled promises and self important quotes leaves him vulnerable to his critics.

He has only been in the playoffs twice and is the all time scoring leader for any player to have not won a playoff series. T-mac is second.

I don't think there is a knick fan who does not root for his success on the court!

solid post, but it doesnt really answer anything.

My point is that there seems to be an agenda against Marbury as evidenced by the overreaching threads which are severely critical --- from on court play to personal life. That flies in the face of your last line.

He has had a disappointing career...No question. I'm hoping last year was a step in the rehabilitation of Marbury's career. He still has time. He was really good in several key areas in 06-07

“It’s finally happening,” Marbury said. “It’s finally happening. God’s plan is working.”

So Steph's blaming God for this?

Jobbury.
Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

Gotta admit I feel sorry for Marbury sometimes - he's so clueless. I don't think he benefited intellectually from being put on a pedestal early and allowed to dominate so many situations that he did not have the wisdom to manage.

If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.

but when can we skip through the rest of the old testement and get to the new testement and have a superstar that can deliver us a championship????

Waiting on a new savior is what we are all looking for!

Isiah is definitely old testament.

Which means he's delusional, no matter what testament he preaches.

Yeah and don't forget about the bible thumping players and fans too. If thier using that book as the fundamentals of baskeball, then it's a lot worse than anyone could ever imagine. Keep religion out of this.
