Hey Martin, I am not one to complain but you locked Tapseer's thread and it wasn't about Nichols. It was sort hijacked and besides didn't he post his thread before Johnwallace? Please have mercy on this outburst. I am sorry.

there was more chatter in this thread. Could have been first but who cares, right?

if Lee was playing in his place, we wouldn't have $31 million dollars in added cap on the payroll for the next 4 years... get it now?

NO! What do you care about the cap. DO YOU EVEN PAY ATTENTION!!! Why do you want cap space? TO SIGN GOOD PLAYERS!!! Well Isiah just got a good player, so what is you point? Look at the team Isiah is putting together. Look at the young talent that he's adding and what the possibilites are. He won't have to rely on some fantasy FA in 2 years, cuz we're gonna be smacking teams in the teeth by then. You think we won't be an even STRONGER rebounding team now? We kept Lee and we just added 2 Chandler who is a strong SF. Overall this team looks like it's gonna be a monster in terms of hustle and dishing out punishment. Curry and Zach will simply ABUSE teams inside. Then add Lee to that as well.

We have other young defensive minded players we've added too. Heck Chandler had 47 blocks this season. He's gonna bring a bit of what Balkman does in that regard. Why are you bitching about money? Zach is 25 and a BEAST. TMS you usually have a good take on things, but I think this time you're letting your bias against Zach influence your judgement. DUDE we just got stronger, not weaker. Isiah got rid of the right guys and strengthened a weak spot for this team.

No problem I was interested in some of the fans reaction to Curry and Randolph on the FAN.

This somewhat makes up for passing over Almond. Kinda like last year Mardy was the consolation prize for passing on Williams.

Yeah, I hated that we passed on Almond but Nichols might be just as good. He is a solid 3 point shooter.

KG and Zach is worse than Eddy and Zach in terms of needing to play in the same area on the floor.

the fact that we'd at least have a franchise calibre player on the roster would be good enough for me... we could piece it together from there... having Curry, Zach & KG in the frontcourt would be a nightmare for other teams... KG brings shotblocking, passing & a completely unselfish approach to the game which those other 2 don't really possess... plus being 1 of the best rebounders in the game doesn't hurt either, & combining him w/Zach's rebounding at the PF would basically cover for any of Curry's deficiencies in that department... i could stand not having D Lee on the team if it meant us getting KG... i could also stand not having any shot at Kobe or Lebron in '09 if we had KG on the team also.

TMS why are you bringing KG trade talks into this thread. Damn say atleast two sentences about about the guy before ranting about Randolph and KG.

This is certainly not Kobe or KG, but I think this is one of the best moves we've made in a while.

We ditched a horrible player in Stevie, got the best player back in the deal, some potential with Fred, and expiring contracts.

Its up to Eddy, Zach and Isiah to make it work now.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Deals have to be around the corner. Already loaded roster and just added another? What's that now...17 players?

I wonder what Franbury would say about the new Zacurry duo.

Gotta find room for Nichols. He's so nasty from deep.

This was a great pick-up. He can shoot and he's much more athletic than Mo Almond.

I haven't seen much of him, maybe a game or two, but does Nichols really make it into an Almond debate?

It's a good problem to have. You weed out the weak and keep the best players you have. It will all work out to the benefit of the Knicks.

are you saying you prefer Zach Randolph over having any chance at signing Kobe or Lebron in 2 years? my bias against Zach has everything to do with the fact that he is NOT a franchise calibre player, but he's being paid like one for the next 4 years... what is so difficult to understand? it's been pretty plainly laid out there for you several times by myself & others... you should probably ask yourself if you're paying attention to what people are saying the past few hours.

of course, i could just be unreasonably overreacting again like i did when Isiah signed Big Turd i guess... my bad... who cares about cap space, right?

Nice! I suggested the notion of us going for him, but concern about taking him at #23. Good work, Zeke!

DEMETRIS NICHOLS, forward, Syracuse — Demetris is a perfect example of a guy being overlooked because general managers try to assemble talent, not a basketball team. Team USA now realizes they can’t just toss out a group of All-Stars and win overseas. Good N.B.A. teams are built the same way. In a game where there are five players and just one ball, role-players are at a premium. Just because Nichols is not adept at creating his own shot doesn’t mean he won’t be a valuable basketball player. He uses screens superbly, a la Rip Hamilton or Reggie Miller, and he isn’t afraid to take (and make) big shots. Teams are stockpiling shooters; look at Houston’s pickup of Steve Novak. The difference between Nichols and Novak? Novak can’t guard driftwood (we played together on a team the N.I.T. sent to Europe). Nichols is a long 6-foot-8 player capable of guarding a two or a three.

This move makes sense. The Randolph trade, not so much.

Good signing - it could be very significant. There's a good chance that one or both - between Fred Jones and Dan Dickau never play a regular season game as a Knick.
