As might as well offer Lee in a package for Kirilenko now since Lee won't have a major role here.

I agree, although does Utah have much interest since they have Boozer at PF? Aside from that, yes I would definitely package Lee in a deal to get Kirilenko. We need an awesome defender at the SF now that we have two of the worst in the league upfront. Kirilenko is very unselfish and won't require many touches, but does EVERYTHING else. Then if we could package Balkman, Crawford, Nate, etc... and get a dynamite shooter at the 2, we'd be set.

At this point Lee is better than Kirilenko. Did anyone watch last year?

I know Kirilneko had a down year, but it was only one year, I wouldn't say he's on the decline. There are few guys in the NBA who fill up a boxscore as much as he does and he scores as many points as Lee and nearly rebounds as much.

He also makes a ridiculous 15 mil a year contract for several more seasons while Lee gets a double-double on the cheap. No NBA GM would deal Lee for AK off the crap year he had last year and the 60-70 games he's missed in 3 seasons.

Well of course right now Lee makes less but he's going to be making a ton of money soon anyway.

the money they can offer will be what, a full MLE of around $30MM?

We'll be able to probably offer something like 6 years starting at $8MM with a player opt out in year 3.

And, who knows what the roster will look like when its lee's time to re-up- he might be getting the minutes then- curry or zach could be traded- who knows...

Zach and Curry played 35 minutes a night last year. That is 70 of 96 mintues at the 4 and 5, we are going to be the only team in the NBA to go with a 3 man rotation in the front court to gett Lee the last 26minutes??? Or is David Lee going to take away Q/JJ2/Balkmans minutes at the three spot??? The answer to both is no!!!!!!!!

LOL, he is getting 20 mintutes a night and that is with scaling back Curry and Zach. SMH

omg. Didn't you do a rant about cap space and your solution is to trade for a guy who is making more money and had a significantly worse year than the guy you ranted about and basically had a meltdown during the playoffs when his team needed him the most and then bad mouth his organization in his native tongue. Damn, I hated the Randolph trade but this trade is just god awful. I mean is there a family connection with AK on this board that isn't well publicize.

Lee will get about 25-30 minutes a game. IT is going to have to make a tough decision as to whether he should trade Lee now and try to upgrade our SG position or simply stand pat and risk Lee bolting the summer of 2009.

Lee won't bolt if the Knicks want him. He'll get paid. The one thing we do is pay players more than their worth, even when they are good.

Lee at a price he has is an insurance for Eddy/Zack.
Do not forget both of them have health problems heart/microfracture and Zack was suspended almost for god knows how many games for his acts.
lee is chip enough just to be there to cover this up and go in when Eddy/Zach will get in foul trouble and will be tired. They can also come both out of shape to the season and lee will need to come earlier when they will run out of gas in 5 first min.
If Lee will show improvement on defense and in shooting then IT is in trouble. Big trouble...

I was talking about bolting for more playing time. If Lee continues to develop, he is going to want to be a starter and it is doubtful he will ever start over Curry or Randolph. So he may decide to bolt to another team for the chance to start. I hope it does not happen because we could use his energy off the bench.
