So F'N disappointed... First, we screwed up the Randolph deal by not holding out for Webster. You don't make this deal without Portland sending us Webster back. Horrible! Next with a 6'6" shooter (prob. the best pure shooter in this entire draft) in Morris Almond right there for the taking and the most talented Euro. still there in Rudy Fernandez (also an excellent shooter along with his many other skills) he picks this kid Chandler. WTF man. We needed a shotblocker/interior defender or a high % shooter. We added a player that doesn't compliment Curry at all in an unnecessary trade (w/o Webster that is) and failed to address any of our needs. ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS NIGHT for Knick fans everywhere.

I'm thinking the one move that will make this make sense:

Crawford, Nate, and Malik for a resigned Rashard Lewis(at about 13-15 mil per).

He's absolutely necessary but with the Sonics drafting both Durant and Green, there isn't much room for Crawford.

At PG there is.

Well they are going to want a distributor at PG to get the ball to Durant, Crawford is erratic, I don't think they'd stunt Durants growth like that.

What if they use Green as a Point Forward a la Pippen, run the offense through him. Jamal is sort of the secondary PG and a shooter. It can work.

I dont know man. They just got Delonte West in that Ray Allen deal, as well as Wally-world. Theres just no more room for Nate and Crawford. I'm not saying your trade is bad, its a good trade, it just doesnt make sense for the Sonics anymore.

Breaking: Bucher says Sonics now want to keep Rashard.

Where does this guy play?

We have to use Lee at the 3 now that we have Zach. There are are hardly any minutes left at the 4-5.

Small forward is taken by Lee, Balkman and QRich. Will Chandler ever play?

I left off Jefferies at the 3 too. That's 4 guys ahead of him on the depth chart.

Chandler is not going to play right away. Thomas already said the player he target will be an impact guy 2 years from now. He could actually push his way into the rotation. Knowing how these guys get injured he could be playing 1st game of the season.

If Isiah saw bigtime potential in this guy then there's no reason NOT to take him. Some have said that he could've been a lottery pick if he stayed in school, so I don't see why Isiah shouldn't take a guy that he feels could be a real talent. By now you'd think that Isiah would get the benefit of the doubt on judging talent.

Lee will continue to be the Sixth man PF off the bench from how I see it. This team has very good size and muscle now. We may not be a defensive force, but we haven't gotten worse with this deal. Teams will now have another guy to have to worry about in the floor and that will only make us more dangerous. Chandler and anyone we drafted would've been about the future, so I can live with a pick based on upside and potential.

23. New York Knicks: Wilson Chandler, F, DePaul
Mejia's take: Isiah Thomas excels at the draft game and I think he homered with this choice. He's extremely versatile, has a great frame, and will wind up being a steal on the David Lee level. Knicks fans have every right to puff out their chests on this one. Chandler is a stud.

Notice a trend...

Lee, Balkman, Chandler...

Isiah has a plan to accumulate players who don't need to score, but are athletic and can get points off of offensive rebounds and putbacks. I like the pick, even though I'd like to see us get a shooter at some point. This guy is going to have value to us or someone else for his potential, which Isiah's draft rep will also enhance if he doesn't get much burn (seems likely).

My only questions with Chandler is where does he play? Does he play at all? Are we going to do something to get a shooter, since we passed on a really good one?

IKE... its like Isiah knows that Eddy and Zack aren't going to play any D and are going to take every shot anywya, so everyone else may as well play D.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Clips took Jared Jordan. Knicks would've picked him if they could've traded down according to Steven A.

At this point I'm giving Isiah the benefit of the doubt on his drafting skills. Maybe duplicates what we have, but I'd rather have a duplicate who can play than a marginal player who fits a need. For all we know Morris Almond might be the next Kareem Rush.

The Randolph trade, that's another story...

Who knows what's gonna happen with Almond. Most SGs havent done much in Utah, that's for sure.

In all fairness, Zeke reiterated a number of times how this pick may have to sit for a year or two.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Chandler, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was pulled onto the Almond bandwagon weeks ago.

as others have pointed out - Chandler isn't expected to play this year, so that's fine. A guy like Almond might have gotten more play next season - but even Almond wouldn't have gotten much time, as a rookie. Isiah likes what he sees in Chandler, so I'm open to giving him a shot.

He's taller than balkman and stronger (and I like Balkman - don't get me wrong). like Balkman, Chandler's very athletic, long arms, and he's still a babe at 20 years old and he might be able to improve on his shooting - he's got college 3 pt range.

Not going to critisize the Chandler pick till I see him play some.

- on Zach.

This was clearly a pick to try to win next year. Isiah (and Dolan) want playoffs. Frye didn't fit in last year, and Zach - for all the critisism he recieves, is just as good a defender as channing, he's a better rebounder and better in the post, and still only 26. Zach should make things easier for Curry. How it actually works out - time will tell, but improving our post play, rebounding, and ability to draw fouls - all in one player, who's a natural to start - I don't have a problem with that.

Lee will come off the bench, which is his strength anyway. Morris will be our 4th PF and Jeffries our 5th, with Balkman steping in there sometimes too. Lee can back up 3 positions. I think the Zach trade clearly makes NYK better. Ofcourse it costs us salary and one of your young players, and some might say it hurts chemistry - but Frye didn't exactly have chemistry with this team last year either.

I think it's a fair move, with enough upside to make it worth the extra 2 years of salary added.
Hello there fans. Isn't Isiah the greatest.
