He was certainly one of the best professional wrestlers of all time. Arguably the best. Made everything look tight and realistic. Seemed like a standup guy behind the scenes. I grew up on his stuff.
I started watching wrestling in '95. I played catch up though the videotapes my father made --- he was a big fan and there was plenty of wrestling on tv throughout the 80s. Damn near everyone I liked --- From Rude, to Bossman, to Eddy G are all now dead....Elizabeth, Martel, Hashimoto, Davey Boy, Owen...the list really goes on and on with performers who died way before their time. Beniot is the last one I will go through. The art form is dead to me as well.
My saliva and spit can split thread into fiber and bits/ So trust me I'm as live as it gets.

Very unconfirmed, but one person posted the following:
Local 10p news (WAGA-TV) is reporting that investigators have told them that, based on evidence found inside the home that they are not ready to disclose, they believe Benoit may have killed his wife & son a couple of days earlier before taking his own life sometime in the past 24 hours.
According to WAGA, the bodies were discovered by a neighbor today after WWE "promoters" were unable to reach the Benoits by phone. The bodies were found in separate rooms, Nancy in an office area, Daniel in an upstairs bedroom, and Chris in a weight room.
The latter part of that (the locations) were given on-camera by an investigator, the rest was from the reporter who did the stand up piece from the local sheriff's department.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Fox news just said a police officer said murder suicide. UGH
Wow... Chris Benoit was the last guy I ever envisioned pulling a murder suicide. Even though Chris always played the good guy, it always seemed so genuine and he just seemed like he was the ultimate standup guy off the camera. I hope this isn't true.

A lot of these guys take steroids and pain killers year round like they were candy. They can give you a powerful/youthful appearance on the outside while it ravages your inside. Chris Benoit was an awesome force and an awesome wrestler but if anyone doesnt think this guy wasnt a steroid addict for possibly 20 years? you are blind. To do something like this--you have to be out of your mind---killing your own kid makes you look like a super chump of the worst kind. If you want to kill yourself--go out in the backyard by yourself and put a gun to your head but dont take a 7 year old life away because of your own problems. And his problems had to be chemical in nature.

If that's the way it went down, it had to be from the roids or whatever other drugs he was on.
That's ****ed up.
I hope this brings the WWE down.

They break cahones on the ML sports--but how about Sylvester Stallone getting picked with 60 viles of HGH--they must just crack down even harder on the system that is supplying the drugs rather than going after a few individuals in major sports

Word. Its mindboggling, but, you never know what's really going on with an athlete or celebrity.
This reminds me of what happened to Phil Hartman. Hell, Richard Jeni commited suicide.
Even if I saw the whole thing unfold I'm sure I could never understand what would move a man to kill his wife and 7 year old son. To destroy his family like that.
Dont lose any sleep. For people of sound mind, its beyond our comprehension.
RIP Crippler.

Violence is contagious. Even fake one... It's like drags - you hooked up on violence and it will take you to hell and all people around you. Wrestling is sick entertainment for sick people. But hey... show must go on...

This is just an unbelievably tragic story and one that his hardly believable if you've followed Benoit for any period of time- even knowing he was probably on steroids and the like. There are a lot of details missing here and its always best to wait for the story to unfold to make any kind of judgments out of this.

You know he was looking a little depressed the last few times I saw him wrestle in the past month or so. He just looked a little tired and drained.
You know, this life we live is hard. You never know what that man was going through. You could go down the list of possible scenerios. The Uk slueths made the point of steriods. The guy might have been on anti-depresants, or may have been self medicating with something. I'm thinking alcohol, cuz that depressed look I was getting from him might have been the look of alcoholism. Roids, alcohol, depression spells trouble.
Rip "rabid wolverine". You were one of the best ever.

After reading from various sites this is what I believed happened. Nancy killed the 7 year old (poison?). Benoit comes home finds out his son is dead and kills her. He realizes what he just did and kills himself.

I heard this rumor too. Something strange happened here. They are doing autopsies today. Details will come out.

The Associated Press is reporting that Chris Benoit is believed to have strangled his wife Nancy and smothered his son Daniel before hanging himself, citing a source close to the investigation.
Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard told The Associates Press that they are investigating what role, if any, steroids may have played in the incident.
