Kobe, Artest, KG, IT
Isiah Thomas (Madison Square Garden, New York): Mr. Sheridan, after a 33-49 campaign, what moves or trades should I do to improve the Knicks? Help me out here, have you heard any rumors of the Knicks making a trade?
Chris Sheridan: (1:20 PM ET ) Are you really in NYC, Isiah, or are you in Barcelona chasing Kobe's Mercedes around?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- David (Hou, TX): What do you think the odds are that Artest lands in Houston and for what price?
Chris Sheridan: (1:22 PM ET ) Probably higher in Houston than anywhere else, although I keep hearing Miami. If the rockets were to get him, it would be for a package built around Rafer Alston. But in order for that to make sense, Mike Bibby would have to be moved. And since the Kings still do not even have a coach, we're still a long way from getting to the step of reshaping the roster.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dan (PA): Chris, Would a package of Ben Gordon, Chris Duhon, Andres Nocioni (sign and trade for around 6.5 per), Khraypa (sp?), and the Bulls #9 (plus maybe a couple of 2nd round throw ins) be enough to get the Bulls Kobe? Lakers get good players plus a top 10 pick this year (not to mention Duhon and Khyrapa both come off the books next year so they could possibly take a run at Arenas) and the Bulls get a proven scorer and big time player.
Chris Sheridan: (1:25 PM ET ) I don;t think that's enough. Now, if you want to throw Luol Deng in there instead of Nocioni, and add on P.J. Brown in a sign-and-trade to make the salaries match, you;re getting somewhere.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ben (NY): What's it gonna take to get KG in Cetics green? How about the 5, Theo's deal, Gerald Green, and Kendrick Perkins?
Chris Sheridan: (1:28 PM ET ) Not nearly enough. Not even close.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jarvis (Compton, CA): Chris, what team do you see Kobe suiting up for this upcoming year?
Chris Sheridan: (1:28 PM ET ) New York or Chicago. See my blog.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jim (LA): Chad Ford thinks your Kobe to the Knicks proposal may be the worst trade in NBA history if it goes down. Why would the Lakers do it?
Chris Sheridan: (1:29 PM ET ) If Kobe forces the lakers' hand and gives them a short list of teams he would accept a trade to, it will impact the kind of offers the Lakers would get. If the Knicks were biddin against 28 other teams, they'd have no chance. But if they're only bidding against one or two other teams, it changes the equation.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nathan (Springfield): Where do you think Vince Carter will end up, might he come to the west?
Chris Sheridan: (1:31 PM ET ) He has zero leverage, so I see him taking the extension the Nets are offering and staying in NJ.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tim (NYC): The 2000-2 Lakers don't qualify as a mini-dynasty?
Chris Sheridan: (1:32 PM ET ) The earlier question dealt with dynasties, not mini-dynasties.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ryan(madison,wi): Lets not forget that Kobe cant force anything right now. if he wants his paycheck he will do what the lakers say. What can Kobe really do to force this?
Chris Sheridan: (1:33 PM ET ) Kobe could miss a paycheck or two to get what he wants. Heck, he could afford to sit out a whole season if he wanted to. He has a 15 percent trade kicker in his contract, so he'd make up for the lost money many times over once he was dealt.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Max (San Diego): If it comes down to say the Bulls or the Knicks there is no way the Knicks get Kobe. The only way the Knicks end up with Kobe will be if he says "Here is the list of teams I'll play for: New York Knicks. End of list" and no way that happens!!!
Chris Sheridan: (1:35 PM ET ) What makes you think he wouldn't say that?.
