Sure the 1990s were great because the Stars of Magic-bird to Jordan and TV.
Also depending on your age. But to me, and its a bit before my time was about 1966 thru 1975. You had the Celtics dynasty, Wilt in PHila, Lou Alcinder and Oscar, Jerry, Earl, and THE KNICKS!!!!!! College basketball was great, and the Amatuer Olympic basketball team has the blue chip players and was kicking ass! You also had the ABA league also with its stars including the wonderful Dr. J and the crazy David Thompson. To me you had Big guys like Bill Russell, Nate Thurmund, Alcinder, Wilt, Willis, Wes, Bellamy, Elvin, Gillmore, Lanier, and others in an era that produced the best centers in history. Walton in college was better than anyone in the league now! His backup was Sven Nater who would lead the ABA and NBA in rebounding! Flashy guys like The Hawk, Pistol Pete, Dr J, Gervin, Thompson, Earl were as much fun to watch as any. Nate Archibald, the last man to lead the NBA in Scoring and assists at the same time! Oscar in his prime, West in his prime, Elgin Baylor in late 60's! You had two great Celtic Runs. ONe ending in 1969 and another in 1974 with dave cowens and a young sub named Paul Westphal! Late 70's was the Coke head era but the end of 60's and first 5 years of the 70's to me was better than the Bad boys of Detroit, the Bulls dynasty, and the Smash mouth Slow down offensivly challanged Knick teams. "The good old days" are always fun to revisit! Seems the longer the shorts, the worse the fundamentals! and Darnell Hillman! [Edited by - nalod on 06-14-2007 11:07 AM] |

Nalod, I don't know much about the 60s era but I can see why most or some would possibly feel it was an engaging era. It pretty much exemplified the true nature of how the game of basketball would be played with everything playing off the big man in the middle.
But in the modern day era of highlights, playground fantasy and "did you see that?" conversations, the 90s were the beginning of that era. You want the NBA to go back to the 90s. You need them to.
