Anyone have the feeling the Knicks are content with pretty much what they have?

thomas wants to win.

i think the smart thing to do would be to take a lease out on camby, JO, artest, or sheed (all guys with 2 years left on their contracts i think) and hit the playoffs for a couple years, then when marbury's gone, sign someone, maybe even chris paul, b/c we'll have major cap room.

I think that's where you start.

get frye outta here.
get nate outta here.

so you dont have to even bother about resigning them.

Curry, James, Morris
Sheed/JO/Camby, Lee
Jefferies, QRich, Balkman
Crawford, QRich
Marbury, Collins

Then in 2010 or whenever it is:

Curry
_____
Jefferies
Crawford
Paul

etc, etc.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

You can't honestly say that we would not have won more games and potentially made the playoffs if we were healthy during the final stretch. I think the teams goals need to be focused on getting under the cap and not getting max players past their prime. In addition, not wasting the MLE like the past few years. The concerns you have are major and do need to be addressed but I think we can fix this roster by getting quality younger players. If we have too many forwards, lets trade them for some quality young guards. Let's continue to shore up the weak spots and make the overall team better, then at that point we can hope to get a big time FA in the future. At this point in the game it just takes patience and a few key moves that will get us into the playoffs consistently. Then hope we can get an FA that will take us over the hump.

What I don't want is the instant gratification of a Wallace, O'neal, artest, or whomever who will make us better now for the next 4 years but will not make us championship material.

Injuries were definatly the main reason for why we slipped as bad as we did at the end of the season. But when you think about what Isiah Thomas spent on acquiring Marbury, Jefferies, Frye, Curry who were all healthy then you can't really give Isiah a pass for the injuries.

In order for the Knicks to be a playoff calibre team they need to STOP THE TURNOVERS. As long as they turn the ball over the way they do they will make it very very hard for themselves to make the playoffs.
