ESPN is reporting that Donovan is having second thoughts and is looking to back out on his deal with the Magic.

Seriously, what's wrong with these people? I want to be traded...No I want to stay here...I want to be traded...I'm staying at Florida...I'm excited to be here in Orlando...I want to go back to Florida...

He should be forced to sit out a season.

Agreed. WTF indeed. If you're happy where you are, STAY!!! If you're not happy, GO!!! If you want a better opportunity, GO!!! But be ****ing sure. It's so ridiculous.

We had, recently, at our company, two guys my company really wanted to hire, to fill crucial positions. BOTH agreed to come on and then recinded their acceptance two days later. One by email, one by fax. WTF is wrong with these people??? If you accept, that's it!! You're done. Anything else is an absolute damage to any credibility you have. And btw, we lost out on another talented candidate because of those two *******s.

At this point, if I'm the Magic, I don't want Donovan. I tell him, fine, you can have an out. You owe us an $x million penalty and reimbursement for all the fans who bought season tickets based on your arrival... and you can't coach for a year. That's it, *******.

And 1.......The dude is a Nutcase I don't care how good of a collegiate coach he is. Not to mention he put Florida through somewhat of a circus by being wishy washy with his commitment to them. I hope Florida goes 0- whatever next season.

Stupid move. If he was not sure, he should have told the Magic he needed more time. The Magic could have waited a few days, even with the draft coming up. Florida will accept him back because of his past winning, but he really hurt his credibility and his chances for landing a good NBA job in the future. Really, the Magic job is as good as it gets for a college coach turning pro. Maybe the Bobcats would have been better because there would be less pressure to win, but Orlando has talent and cap room. Few teams have both.

He should never be offered another head coaching job in the NBA.

This guy is Hamming up the spotlight

This was a great recruiting move by Donovan, acting like he's good enough for the NBA and never has coached at that level before, but he has an resume with atleast 3 players going top 15 in 2007 draft and that will open the flood gates in recruits coming there.

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

I can't believe he's backing out. He has a right to change his mind, but he basically screwed over the Magic org here. There's probably some season ticket holders who are pretty damn unhappy too. Gonna be hard to take him seriously the next time he wants an NBA job too.

He has the top class coming in this year.

So what the dude changed his mind! Its a crime to change your mind in two days? Coach K used to waffle and came close to going to the Celtics and the Lakers. Im sure his agent was pressuring him too, he stood to make 2 mil by Billy going.

Im sure this happens a lot but the cat out of the bag thing is bad but it blows over quickly.

Billy should be applauded for his actions that he confirmed his stance and realized his conviction was not that strong.

He'll coach in the NBA someday. He should do the take a year off thing some time and do TV and chill with his family then pick his jobs.

He might have also realized what arse's the Orlando owners are and decided he did not want to work for those nut jobs.

Over 20,000 season tickets were purchased on Friday. The Magic should let him go to save face. You don't want a guy who wants to back out of a 3 day old contract. It is extremely embarrassing for the organization but it surely will be nothing compared to a legal fight with a coach that turned down a contract over 3 days. It is a sticky spot for everyone involve. I all but think his NBA days are over now. I can't see another team seriously pursuing him.

20,000? Does their arena even hold that many? And all in one day?

It may not be a crime but he backed out of a contract. Usually that means serious monetary implications for everyone involved.

He signed a contract. Huge difference. You don't sign that contract unless you're 100% sure. He's 100% at fault, therefore.

Donovan is not the first coach to waffle on a job. I recall Bobby Cremins waffling about staying at Georgia Tech or coaching at his alma mater South Carolina. I think Cremins also signed a contract and backed out a few days later. This illustrates how nerve racking job changes can be no matter what the money is involved.

Yes, they're nerve-wracking. But, you put your integrity on the line when you accept a job. Human nature is to second guess, fine. But when you make a decision with your career, be sure. He wasn't, and now he's going to wind up wasting a lot of time and money for being an *******.

I don't get why he signed a contract on such short notice, and then changed his mind so quickly. If he took 3 days to make up his mind, and 3 days to change it, maybe he should give himself another 3 to be sure one way or another. Or maybe he should have given himself 6 days to think the whole thing thru.

(I don't know how many days were really involved, I'm just spewing numbers to make a point.)

I thought he agreed in principle but had yet to sign.

200 season tix were sold over the weekend.

THe language of letting him out of a deal in principle is not so hard. I think they had a deal to make a deal.

Rick Marjaris backed out at USC. It happens.

Hey, no doubt is a lousy thing to do, but 2 days in is no big deal. He went to talk to alumni and his buds at florida and likley got emotional.

This guy is very emotioal kind guy. It what fuels him. Maybe he realized the travel associated with having a young family is not a good thing.

The DeVos family which owns the Magic are the people who started AMWAY and are some real cooky group and I think religious zelots. Maybe over the weekend it got kinda of weird on him and he bolted.

I think this ghost will follow him whenever his new upcoming contract w/ Florida ends. He's always be considered a flip flopper.

I was being humorous. It was more like 200 but they made such a big deal about it.

First Shaq left for nothing. Then the classic trade of T-Mac for .25 on the dollar. Then the Fran Vazquez draft debacle. Now Donovan's dance.

What's going on in Orlando? Do you actually know any fans of the Magic?

He's human. He has the right to change his mind. The idea of being an NBA headcoach and making on that money sounds great. But once it settled in, I guess he realized his heart was in college. He now has a chance to build a legacy in Gainesville. The next generation of coach K. In the NBA, he would be nothig more than an average NBA coach in a players league.
