Ah Tom, I was hoping someone would add the Talking Heads in this thread since I forgot about them in my post. Great band, David Byrne is quite the musical genius.

King Crimson: perhaps the first metal band? Since 1969 many formations.
Genesis (Pre-1980) (include Peter Gabriel and Steve hackett) XTC: (Pop at its best) Todd Rundgren: (Most under rated) THe Jam: (Revived the Mod era in 1980s. See "paul weller") The Clash: (Socialist Brit never sounded better!) The Flower: Kings (Modern Progressive epics) Roxy Music: (In 1970's created the sound of the 1980's. Did it with Style.) Mahavishnu: (Ponty, Dimeola, Mclauglin, and others) Fusions best. Beach Boys. Best VOCAL group ever. Spend two hours listening to PET SOUNDS on a nice system and you'll understnd. So so many more. Rock is many forms and so many important music. Beatles, Stones, Who and other giants are great, but there were so many others. Aretha Franklin (Duane Allmans guitar on "the Weight"), The Band, David Bowie, Allman Bros., Grateful Dead, etc etc! Nalod has 2,000 cds! |

I won a WSOU contest back in the day (12-13 yrs ago) and saw Korn at Roseland. I think they were the opening act for a House-of-Pain/Onyx concert with whassisface from Anthrax.
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Talking heads was a very important band for me also. Seen them live about 4 times back in the day. Few concerts then could you stand and dance to.

My coolest concert going moment ever may have been when I saw Stone Temple Pilots and they opened with a cover of Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Totally unexpected and blew everyone away.

Posted by tomverve: Scott Weiland is a big Pink Floyd fan. Velvet Revolver (Weiland and Slash's new bad) are on tour they'll often break out Wish you Were Here during the acoustic portion of their set. Very good. They also just covered the Talking Heads Psycho Killer, it sounds awesome. "OMG - did we just go on a two-trade-wining-streak?" -SupremeCommander
