I still like Billips but he wouldn't be the first PG to peak under Brown. And the question remains whether the team will ever be as good as they were under Brown?

Blue, are you starting this Larry Brown stuff again... I will continue to cite CBS Sportsline # 5 "Most overrated coaching performance" For pete's sake Larry Brown's Pistons were constantly in elimination games. And we are now going to kill this Piston team for being 2-2. Hell that would be a luxury for that Brown team.

5. Larry Brown (2004 NBA championship): It's one thing to be the only coach to win it all at the college and pro level, it's another to take a team that reached the conference championship the year before and improve it by only four games during the regular season and then backdoor a world championship against the headcase Lakers. I'm not saying Larry Brown isn't one of the greatest coaches of all time, just that the 2003-04 banner really should be credited to Joe Dumars, the state of Colorado vs. Kobe Bryant, and Wendy's for making such delicious and affordable food readily available to Shaq.

Citing CBS Sportsline is that suppose to give your arguement more credence? Its a sportswriter with an opiinion operative word being opinion. I just love when these guys who prohably couldn't even shoot a hoop or coach a 4th grade CYO team to a win sit back and try to discredit someone or a teamt that actually did something for the sport.

Facts

Larry Brown is one of the greatest coaches whether you think what happened last season was his fault or not there's no doubt he has one of the best basketball minds around.

Before Larry Brown the Pistons were just a very good team but they had a ceiling.

After Larry Brown they became Championship caliber.

Brown gave them that extra edge; a killer instinct mentality that wins Championships.

Since Larry Brown they have lost their swagger. They play as if they are bored as if they have nothing left to accomplish.

Their mojo has gone.

If I am Detroit, I am bored to death playing Cleveland.

Blue, c'mon now you know better than that.

Of course they are not going to be better than they were under Brown. Different team, different era, different players. Different coaches. Are you going to hold a Conf Finals appearance against the team?> It's a wonder Dumars has the team still contending for championships. In todays NBA, it's kinda hard to continously win championships when your team doesn't have a "superstar" player.

You make it all sound so obvious. Last year when they got off to a nice start half the fans of the world thought they were vastly improved by being "unshackled" from Brown, the team wrecker. Then this year they were supposed to be vastly improved with the addition of Webber. I'm glad you see things as I do but no need to drag me for saying what needs to be said.

Improved with the addition of Webber?

C.Webb doesn't make the Pistons look good; they make CWebb look good.

I don't think anyone can honestly say that Billups shouldn't get paid. I agree with the poster that says no one is worth a max contract but does that mean they should get paid? Noooo. I don't think the Memphis Griz should charge for their tickets, but they do. They have to. Nature of the biz

When comparing what Billups is probably going to ask for its kind of hard not to pay him. Guys like Berry and Francissy make such ridiculous amounts of money. Sure you could point to Steve Nash and say hey he's only making 12 million but more than likely his agent is going to point to Stankberry and hey he hasn't even won a playoff series let alone a NBA championship and he's making 20 million dollars.

The thing with Billips is he's just such a beautiful fir with the Pistons and their system, but I could see him reverting to a lesser player elsewhere, like if he has to score too much, or over penetrate, etc.

Detroit should keep Billips and pay him a high price but not max. Something like what Sheed gets. Chauncy could play hardball and go somewhere else for mxa money but I think his game would probably suffer for it, as would the Pistons. He's not someone who's going to go somewhere to turn a team around. he might be a nice final piece who can be a difference maker in a championship run, but he's not the kind of guy who's gonna add 10+ regular season wins.

Listen where the pistons going to the finals if Ainge didn't hate Isiah Thomas?

The answer is no!

Nevermind Larry got Sheed gift wrapped, and he also had the good fortune of Kidd injuring his knee when the Nets had a 3-2 lead in the series and were going to put them out in round two. They also faced the Pacers with an injured Jermaine Oneil, and the Lakers with a very injured Karl Malone....

The Lakers were probably the worst team they played in the three rounds judging by the ass kicking they gave them, not to mention it took a miracle kobe three to even get the lakers a game.....

And they wouldn't have beat the heat the next year had they been healhty.....

However he is a great teacher and if you listen you will be a better team, a better player and excel......

The knicks have a collection of losers that believe they know the game better than anyone, and they do judging by their 33 win seasons. Isiah is yet to accomplish anything with the knicks except brininging in great role players, alienating the city, the nba, gm's and sexually harrassing women....

Nothing, I am playing the role of the "angry black man."

It's not personal, Blue.

What does this argument do with the KNicks. To make it clear it is a OT. Brown's influence on Billups as the Pistons coach is in question not whether NYC likes or do not like Isiah Thomas.

That hardly clarified anything.

Do you think the Pistons are better under Flip or Brown?

I think its the Pistons that are getting exposed. Chauncey fits this team less and less as they bring in soft players like C-Webb.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

"I believe [we're better], I really do," Billups said after a conference finals series in which the Pistons probably didn't deserve to win one game. "There's nobody on that team who is better than ours. And maybe I'm crazy, maybe I've got too much confidence in these guys, but I believe in us. I believe we're the better team.

"Did we back it up? No, we didn't. But I still think we're better."

STFU you lost! Lebron was better than your whole team 4 and maybe even 5 of the 6gms played. Or are trying to tell us you need LB?
