I have always been a wrestling fan, but Vince McMahon has again and again tried to create a monopoly of it, ruining all competition. There are 30 NBA teams, but only two wrestling promotions on TV. If the NBA had had an All Star game every night, but it was played for championships with every city being represented, it would be watched by more people. San Antonio and Utah are both boring teams, and cared about by a small audiance.

Wrestling targeting specific group of people which are using TV ONLY to relax and put their mind to sleep but still having their senses awake. Soup operas, porn, reality shows are another visual drugs examples. And it is nothing wrong in this. It is better to watch TV that get high or drunk.
Other group likes to have their mind working and have pleasure to think and analyze.
Bbal can produce interest from both groups. The Spurs/Jazz series zo is for the second group more that for the first. Sophisticated bbal fans are ecstatic about the way this teams are execute. The people looking for highlights are obviously bored.
The plan of Stern and NBA is to make the league more of a Soup Opera/Wrestling like show and I guess this is a business model to get more “green” out of it. The old quality NBA will be gone when the coaches like Sloan, Pop, LB will eventually retire and this is sad...
