I dunno why everyone and their mother wants to trade Curry all of a sudden. He is a dude that you can try to actually build a team arond and thats a first since like ohh i dunno Ewing? Yeah he's been in the league a bunch of years and is one dimentional but hey its his 1st year as #1 option on offense and he will have to learn a bunch of stuff he never really needed earlier (like passing cause he was never consistently double teamed b4).You can add a bunch of other stuff to learn too of course but to me he is the only one who i wouldn't trade.

because his value will never be higher and i don't think you can build around him

We won't really know if you can build around him if we don't even try! The truth is that we've only just begun this process. Depending upon what Isiah does this summer, we can get a much clearer picture of how effective having Eddy as the focal point can be. Much like Steph, I don't think we need to see it as Eddy is the sole reason this team will win or lose. Yao isn't close to having that kind of impact, Neither is KG or JO. You need a properly formed team to succeed. I think we are starting to develop that.

As was mentioned Curry, Lee, Balkman, Collins in particular look like the kind of players we want to keep. I like the potential of Morris, but we don't know much about him yet. I like the talent that Frye still has, but it's going to be interesting to see if Isiah still believes in him or if he's on his way out. Jamal can still be an effective player for us, but i'd like to see him focus his game more. He was starting to use a lot of penetration and short shots and teardrops. It was VERY effective and I think that is something he should continue to use. We'll have to see if Q can comeback and be healthier. If he does, I really like his game as well. Even with a bad back the guy was playing his BUTT off this year. This surgery he had is supposed to be very effective, so i'm hopeful.

We basically keep coming back to the same things. I'd love to replace Nate with a bigger guard who can catch and shoot among other things. If Nate can't be a PG, then he's limited in his value. I'd trade him, cuz I don't like his lack of size and D. I'd rather give his minutes to a guy like M. Almond or some other SG with size.

C-Curry
F-Lee
F-Balkman
G-Crawford
G-Collins

Marbury is very likely going to be part of the team so he is 6 unless he could somehow fetch me something way up in the draft or a combination of pieces that includea young quality guard like Devin Harris. I think his value went way back up towards the end of last season.

Frye
Jefferies
Morris
Nate
Malik Rose
Pick 23? that is our trading brew

Francis--I think there is a slim market but we'd probably take back more $$$
JJ--no market really for both of them

Q-rich complete unknown

I personally like nate and would like to see if Frye a full season after the knee injury is better, but I can't disagree. Knicks need a leader on the court, Marbury is not getting it done.

I wouldn't trade Balkman or Collins b/c I don't think it's possible to get what they are worth; how good they will become. I'd hestitate to trade Frye b/c his value is in the basement. I think Lee, Curry and Craw could be effective bait in improving this team

I mainly agree althoug I woulnt rule out trades that made sense. If a guy like Paul Pierce is on the block, I get him, we need a consistant scorer to carry the load and he is it.

If Jermaine O'neal is on the block I get him, he boards, he blocks and he gets buckets. The price must be right, but hes an incredible talent.

We're a 33 win team, following 23 wins, following 33 wins. Not a single player is untouchable. Period.

Maybe in some circumsatnces but the players I outlined
Curry-24
Lee-24
Balkman 22
Crawford 27
Collins 23
avg age is 24 I think this is the core right now that is surrounded by Marbury Jefferies Frye Q Rich and nate--i think that marbury will be here two more years so you are looking at frye jefferies and q rich--can we improve in this area--we have to and we will. I dont think you blow up something that is up and coming--must get it better/ stronger and play it out.

Why play it out? That core isn't good enough to win a championship. Sorry, but I don't see a single star in that group. All nice pieces, but none of them is a #1. There's some very good supporting players in that group, and for the most part, I like the group, but without someone of top 10 NBA quality in the group that squad wouldn't go farther than the first round.

If we were able to agree that that group isn't good enough, then anyone SHOULD be tradeable, because the goal is to eventually win a championship, isn't it?

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

I think we can know that you can't build around Curry- he does one thing well- score- or, rather, suck the ball up in the low post, score and turn the ball over.

He doesn't play defense. He doesn't rebound.

If you're building around a center, then he at least has to rebound the ball better than curry has shown.

Might he suddenly get it? Maybe.

But he has a body of work to judge. He isn't a rookie.

And don't give me this crap about 'its his first year as being the focal point of the offense' because he still rebounds poorly and he can't play defense and he can't block shots and that isn't going to be changed by being the focal point of the offense.

I personally believe that Curry can be built around. You use the word "can't" in regards to defense and blocked shots, which I think is a bit of an exaggeration of his physical abilities. He can improve in those areas. He has the talent to do those things better than he has. He may never be great, but he can get better. His rebounding rate is currenlty not what it should be, but that can be compensated for, as is clearly seen by our very good team rebounding. As for his defense we all agree that has to improve, as does the TEAMS defense. I believe that we'll get a boost from seeing more of Balkman and Collins next year. His defensive liability can also be offset by having a good defensive PF next to him, which is what is most rumored to be Isiah's desire. On offense his passing is the thing we harp on most and in that sense he is still quite new to this. I could see improvement in his recognition and his passing last year. The more he does it I believe he'll get better. The rest of the team should as well.

In terms of this team one day being a Title contender, it's still a huge work in progress. The moves we need to make are clearly defined and I have faith that we'll get something done. We all know the likely candidates. KG, JO and Pau. Now it's up to Isiah to get something done. I can't believe that if he really wants to, that he won't be able to land one of them.

Don't get me wrong- I'm hopeful he learns to rebound the ball- he had games where he grabbed 10+ boards- but those were so far and few between that I don't think you can expect those to ever become the norm for him.

I just think that his value isn't going to be higher, and if you can trade him to a team like Dallas for Josh Howard, you do it.

Its risk management- Isiah bet Curry would be worth two first round picks- he lost the gamble that they wouldn't be high lotto picks- we should close out our position while we can. Maybe there is upside to Curry, but let someone else find out.

He can be built around, he just needs a superstar next to him!

Teams build around superstars- you build around Lebron, Kobe, Duncan, Shaq. There isn't any question those players are superstars.

You don't build around second tier talent unless that is all you have- in which case, you're building for the day you get a superstar.

He can be built around. He just needs to make unprecedented improvements for a 7th year vet in every aspect of the game!

Who did the Bulls and Pistons build around?

which bulls & pistons squad are you talking about? This year's bulls squad who are home playing golf?

And this years Pistons squad? They aren't built around any one player, but all their players play defense, play team ball and they have guys that do things well- like Rip as a shooter.

And then they have two guys in McDyss and Webber who are playing for a fraction of what they have earned in the past and aren't over the hill.

If you are saying we should be modeled after the Pistons, great- that means we have to trade Curry because he doesn't know what defense is.

But how can you say this is a guy to build around, when you admit to his deficiencies? He's been in the league 7 years. He isn't a rookie.

The championship Pistons were built with 4 all-star level players. Sure, if you have several all-stars that can work out as well as having two superstars. Wake me up when we have a shot at either path!

He 13/6 his first year and 19/7 last year, don't bitch up next Bonn when he is 20plus and 8.......

Great. Now all we need to do is play him 45 mpg next season to inflate his stats and make it look like he's improving.
Players I will not trade under any circumstance
