how can you not be impressed if this sorry team wins 50 games next season? sometimes i wonder whether some of you guys just post on this board to try & bring the rest of us down or if you really hope for good things for this franchise.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I think it was sarcasm, as mentioned earlier, since Nixluva and a few others said they weren't impressed with the 49 win Bulls and felt the Knicks had a brighter future.

I don't think there's anyone on this board who wouldn't seriously be impressed if we won 50. If there is, they're not Knicks fans.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Oh! I didn't get that either!

Quite frankly, barring some dramatic changes the team, I see us peaking below 50 wins for the forseeable future (let's say 5 years), so obviously I would be highly impressed if we won 50.

On the flip side, I also suspect a lot of the lovers would drop down to earth if we have another below .500 season. By their estimation on previous polls, we should've been to .500 a few seasons ago.

I've been utterly disappointed with the team; 50 wins would be enough to turn that around, though.

50 wins would be a great season. I don't think our present roster can do it, but if we added a Lewis or even a good solid player at a position of need, I would not say it is impossible. I need to see the summer league play and training camp before I can make a prediction, but the goal for the year has to at least start with .500 ball, which means 41 wins at least.

I agree I the Knicks being slightly over .500 is reasonable, something between 42-45 wins. 50 wins? They'd have to either be very lucky or get another big name (JO? Artest? etc) to get to 50.

Anything above .500 while ending the season on a hot winning streak will be impressive in my book.

My question is , will the team come out in the beginning of games and play hard and finish games the same way?

That would be the only way we win 50 games.

Players need to move their feet and extend on the defensive side of the ball.

The fact that I said the Bulls won 49 in a weak conf. doesn't mean that they aren't a good team. It simply means that they DID benefit from being in the East. Honestly you guys LOVE to extrapolate things to ridiculous degrees in order to try and make some of us look bad. My point is that they won 49 but that's the regular season. I don't really like their team as currently constituted in terms of the POSTSEASON. They aren't really built for the playoffs. Just like I bashed the Raps for being too perimeter oriented and too small at guard, the Bulls have a similar set of problems. I think that the Bulls give MAX effort on D and execute well on O, but in terms of team make up, they have some work to do.

Right now we don't give max effort on D and we don't always execute on O. I believe that we will get there. This team made some improvements this year from a TEAM perspective. If the knicks won 50 games even in this weak East that would be impressive simply due to the turnaround. A 17 game improvement is impressive. This year we had a chance for a big improvement over last year and I think we can have a decent improvement again this year, even if we don't make any significant changes. STILL we have to see what happens this summer before really making any predictions.

But a 20 game increase by the Raptors isn't? Your words previously.

Oh snap!

LOL we look so bad during regular season which means we more than likely won't see the post season, yet you go out of your way to rag on a team who's in the post season. So if we win 50gms next yr and you believe none of the lower tier teams in the east will be better than us and the top tier teams some stand to take a dive, would it mean we won that many games due to playing in a weak Eastern Conference? And oh how convenient of you to ignore the division they play in, which has 3(including them) of the remaining 4 teams playing in the playoffs and stands to have the 2 from their division represent the ECF and for certain 1 to be in the Finals.

Oh and 1 last thing did you like the way our team was constructed for the playoffs in 03/04 when we got swept? Did you think that team would get swept?

Apparently you still don't get it! There are 2 issues the regular season and the playoffs. I said that I don't like the Raps make up for the PLAYOFFS!!! Another difference is that we're talking about the idea of the SAME KNICKS SQUAD winning that many games. The Raps weren't primarily the same team from the previous year. Sure if we make a deal and land someone that can improve the team, then it's a bit less impressive if we won 50.

I guessed 35 wins for this season, and I'm going to pick 40 wins for next season. 36 at the minimum, they're not going to go down from this year, but no more than 42 because past the 8th seed the east is such a grabbag. so I'm gonna stick right in the middle and go for 40.

To get to around 50 wins mark we need a lot of positive things happened at the same time:
Eddy must improve defense, rebounding, passing, shot blocking to at least below average for C position
Marbs should be healthy and get legs back
Lee and Balk must start shooting from the 15 at some respectable percentage
Mardy must keep it going
Fry and Jeffries must start playing
Q must stay alive
Craf shoul have fast recovery and start playing smart ball
If all of this can come together we have a shot on 50
some trade for solid player can replace some of this "must" things
All of this to happen at the same time has not too much of probability that to win jack pot in NJ lottery...

Actually from all their changes(rookie additions, risky trades) the Raps stood a very good chance to not have a good yr. Parker, Garb, and Barg were total unknowns. Usually teams that stick together(if talent exist) have a greater chance to improve or become elite. Your thinking is backwards on this one, not surprised though.
