I'm talking bout legends. Who were the icons of this sport? Where do they rank? Who were simply unguardable? Ahead of their times?

I'm gonna start off with Pistol Pete. The freakin dude averaged 40 plus per game in college. His handle was way ahead of his time, at least on the grand stages. I think he might be one of the baddest basketball players to ever do it and nobody will be able to be as bad or as legendary as him. A lot of his legend is hearsay cuz there really isn't much footage on him and he died so young. the dude was just bad ass.

Kareem hands down! No question at all. All the rest are very worthy of mention, including MJ, Magic, Bird, Russell, Wilt and the many, many, many others through the years, but Kareem was the best I ever saw and I beleive he was the most unstoppable scorer. He is in fact the all-time leading scorer I think with something like 39,000 plust points.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I only remember 40 year old kareem. I saw some old footage of him when he was Lew alcindor playing with the bucks against the knicks. First thing I thought of was Tim Duncan. Not saying that Duncan was just as good but just in the way their mannerisms and their build. Kareem had the sky hook all day for 20 plus years. Guys had bad dreams about that move cuz you can't do anything about it. Back in those days they literally did everything to stop it.

no one likes Isiah

Isiah was a bad mofo too.

Isiah is like the forgotten man when they talk about greatest point guards in the league. All the players mention him but the NBA just kinda gives him the step child treatment. Isiah was known as a scorer but he didn't even average 20pts for his career. He is right up there with the all time assist leaders even though he retired kinda early.

He was involved in plenty of great games, including the highest scoring game in NBA history which I believe was Denver vs. Detroit. He carried the pistons on his back on one leg against the lakers in the playoffs.

What made isiah great was he knew when to pass the ball and when to take over the game. He was a driven leader, almost psychotic. He had his team ready to die for each other. He stepped to the celtics, lakers, bulls, knicks and beat them.

Isiah was an idol amongst kids coming up in the 80s-early 90s. All the point guards give him that respect.

I know I a huge fan of isiah as a player. The dude was doing street stuff on the court. He was just a bad dude. I know all the guys wanted 11 on their jersey coming up not 32. You know that's the God honest truth.

To think he could have been a knick if it weren't for injuries and the fact he wanted to retire a piston.

Isiah is given pretty good props as a player in my opinion.

The sprained ankle game where he carried the team on one leg was one of the greatest performances I ever saw.

I also saw his errant pass duing the "bird stole the ball, Bird stole the ball" which doomed the Pistons during that series.

The pistons ascent to the top demonstrated just how tough it is to win a championship. The mental toughness is incredible.

seeing a fatigued Warrior team implode gives some insight to why its so important to not have bone heads on the team despite the talent.

I am long on record as saying we were also doomed by starks and mason back in the day because of this.

This is why teams like SA and Detroit despite not having the best talent have done so well. They are tough physically and mentally!

The Suns showed a lot last nite in that final 3 minutes! That might have been their galvanizing moment as a team.

If so then Nash is proving his MVP status even more!

We'll see!
