I had no problem with Magic's comments... had they come after game two of the prior series. But last night, after Dirk already apologized for failing the franchise, they came across as piling on. I mean, however valid those comments were, it's not like they were insightful. This was lasts weeks news.
And I'm not a big Dirk fan. I'm not a fan of jump shooting "franchise" players period. I had several threads on realgm about that. The main excuse I got was. well dirk shoots 47%.... some people just don't get it..
I hear ya. And you've been consistent with regard to guys like Gordon and Redd, and I agree. Good players all, wish we had them, but there's just so far they can take you.
yea, I think people used to take my criticism of such players a if they are not good. And that is far from the truth, I thing guys like gordon and Redd are very good players, just not the big time talents people try to make them out to be. And yes I would take them, but they would not be my franchise players. Michael redd and his contract are going to kill the bucks, just watch..
Like yourself blue, I have seen so many years of basketball over 25, since I was a little kid and what I have noticed today are guys like redd and gordon, good players but 20 years ago, they are just good role players on good teams. Gordon reminds me of Andrew Toney, the SG from the sixers. Can you imagine how many PPG Toney would average today? In a league geared towards offensive players, no hand checks, can't touch players? geez, I say 27ppg easy! and Toney was more of a role player for the sixers, a guy who's job was to come in and shoot, but he had holes in his game just like a lot of these guys do today, but in this watered down NBA, every kid thinks a player is great if he can dribble between his legs, jack up a 25 foot fadeaway shot and hit it 39% of the time... go figure..
Andrew Toney...the Celtic killer....brings back memories. I was a huge Sixer fan back then. Doc, Cheeks, Bobby Jones, Ivaronni, Moses, and of course Toney....
