Marbs has proven that he can play hurt. If the season meant something at the end, I'm sure he would have played.
Aside from that the knicks have Collins. If marbs were to go down it would be Collins time. Marbury is still a player. Even if Collins were to get that opportunity to start cuz of injuries, I can see marbs falling into a veteran role like a Vernon Maxwell, terry porter, van exel, etc. I'm getting way ahead of myself but the writing is on the wall.
I guess I should add
If he can't last a full season and costs $18MM, what good is he.
There are younger guys in the league- like sebastian telfair- that are quicker than he is.
And marbury doesn't shoot nearly well enough from the outside to play the vet role like a terry porter/van exel. And didn't some of those guys you mention disappear rather quickly.
